We are looking for a Process Assistant Engineer to join our Sweden factory and support the daily management, optimisation and continuous improvement of our separator coating processes.
About Senior Material Europe
At Senior Material Europe, we manufacture separator film – a thin film used in lithium-ion batteries, including batteries for electric vehicles. The separator is a key component that helps make lithium-ion batteries safer, more durable and more efficient, supporting the transition towards a more electrified future.
Our production is modern, advanced and operated under controlled cleanroom conditions. The manufacturing process consists of four main process steps, where precision, stability and quality are essential.
Together, we are building advanced manufacturing capabilities in Europe and developing solutions that make a difference – both today and for the future.
The Role
As a Process Assistant Engineer, you will support the daily operation and continuous improvement of our slurry, coating and slitting processes. You will work with production and process data, assist in troubleshooting and process validation, and contribute to improving process stability, product quality and production efficiency.
The role is hands-on and cross-functional, giving you the opportunity to work closely with Production, Quality, Equipment and R&D teams while developing your technical and analytical skills in a modern manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily maintenance and optimisation of separator coating processes, including slurry, coating and slitting parameters and other key process conditions.
- Provide technical support to Production and assist in troubleshooting issues related to process parameters, materials and other process abnormalities.
- Collect, organise and analyse production data and key process parameters, identify abnormal trends and support continuous process improvement.
- Assist in process validation and DOE trials, evaluate the impact of parameters on process and product performance, and support optimisation of the process window.
- Participate in internal and customer quality investigations using methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram and FTA.
- Assist in developing PDCA actions and verifying their effectiveness.
- Support new product trials, new slurry and raw material validation, and process condition verification.
- Follow up on trial production and analyse relevant process and quality data.
- Work with Equipment Engineers to analyse how different equipment functions affect product quality and support equipment and process improvements.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining SOPs, process parameter sheets, work instructions, validation reports, technical reports and other process-related documentation.
- Cooperate with Production, Quality, Equipment and R&D teams to resolve production issues, improve process stability and continuously improve product quality.
Your Background
We are looking for someone with:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, materials science, manufacturing or another relevant field.
- At least 1 year of relevant industrial or manufacturing experience.
- A structured and analytical approach to problem-solving.
- An interest in process development, production technology and continuous improvement.
- Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across different functions.
- The ability to analyse data, identify trends and support fact-based technical decisions.
- A hands-on approach and the ability to work in a production environment.
- Good English communication skills, both spoken and written, in an international working environment.
It Would Be an Advantage If You Have
- Experience from coating, slitting, slurry preparation or other continuous manufacturing processes.
- Experience with process validation, DOE or statistical process analysis.
- Experience with structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, FTA or PDCA.
- Experience working with production, quality or process data.
- Experience from the battery, automotive, chemical, materials or other advanced manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with technical documentation, SOPs and process specifications.
What You Can Expect
You will join an international industrial organisation where process engineering plays an important role in ensuring stable production, high product quality and continuous improvement.
The role offers hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing processes and the opportunity to work closely with Production, Quality, Equipment and R&D teams.
You will have the opportunity to develop your technical and analytical skills while contributing to the optimisation of processes that support the production of separator film for the next generation of lithium-ion batteries.
We value responsibility, collaboration, continuous learning and straightforward communication. Different perspectives are important to us, and we encourage an open and respectful working environment.
