UmArts and the Umeå School of Architecture at Umeå University are seeking one teaching assistant with an interest in communication, marketing, and digital platforms, who would like to contribute to developing how UmArts' research projects and activities are communicated to different target groups. Our goal is to create a dynamic and interdisciplinary team, and students from across the Arts Campus, the Department of Creative Studies and Museum studies are therefore encouraged to apply.
The position is 10% of full-time employment, starting 1 October 2026 or by agreement, and continuing until 30 June 2027. The application deadline is 4 September 2026*. Interviews are planned to take place on* Wednesday, 9 September*.*
Job description
As a teaching assistant within research production and communication, you will collaborate with the UmArts management team and research coordinator, with a particular focus on marketing and communication through digital channels. You will contribute to developing how UmArts' research projects, events, and activities are communicated and made visible to different audiences. Your responsibilities may include producing and publishing content for the UmArts website and social media channels, working with written and visual materials, and collaborating with researchers to develop communication around their projects. You will also support the UmArts team with communication before and during events, seminars, and exhibitions. Other responsibilities may include practical support for public events and exhibitions.

Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a teaching assistant (amanuensis), applicants must be admitted to a first-cycle (undergraduate) or second-cycle (master's) programme at a university or higher education institution.
Applicants must:
- Be a student at the Umeå School of Architecture, Umeå Institute of Design, Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, the Department of Creative Studies, or Museum Studies.
- Have an interest in developing their knowledge and skills in communication and marketing of artistic research projects.
- Have a good understanding of social media and digital communication platforms.
- Have experience writing about art, architecture, and design.
- Be able to take initiative and work independently.
Previous experience in communication and marketing through digital channels, visual communication, and/or digital content production is considered an advantage. Experience working with public events, exhibition production, and/or within an artistic or academic environment is also meritorious.
Terms of Employment
As a teaching assistant, you will be employed by Umeå University. Salary will be determined in accordance with the current local agreement for teaching assistant positions. The position corresponds to 10% of full-time employment, starting on 1 October 2026 or by agreement, and ending on 30 June 2027.
