Software Engineer – React Native

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a small, fast-moving product team building a social planning mobile application.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused primarily on React Native, where you will take ownership of clearly scoped product features and deliver them end-to-end. You’ll work independently in an asynchronous environment while collaborating closely with the team on product and engineering decisions.

The ideal candidate is a strong mobile/front-end engineer who can take a well-defined ticket and turn it into clean, production-ready code with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of clearly defined product features and deliver them end-to-end.
• Build and improve mobile experiences primarily using React Native.
• Deliver clean, production-ready pull requests in small, manageable increments.
• Collaborate asynchronously with product and engineering team members.
• Participate in product discussions and lightweight team check-ins.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, maintainability, and development patterns.
• Use AI-assisted development tools effectively as part of the engineering workflow.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React Native.
• Strong front-end engineering fundamentals.
• Proven ability to independently take scoped requirements from concept to production-ready implementation.
• Ability to deliver clean and mergeable pull requests without extensive supervision.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and agentic development workflows.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to collaborate asynchronously.
• Comfortable working with distributed teams across different time zones.
• Curious, proactive, and willing to ask questions to quickly understand existing engineering patterns.

Nice to Have

• Kotlin experience.
• Backend development experience.
• Previous experience working with distributed or European-based engineering teams.
• Experience in small, fast-moving product or startup environments.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in engineers with a strong shipping mindset. You should be comfortable receiving a clearly scoped feature, working through the implementation independently, and returning production-ready code without requiring constant guidance.

At the same time, we're looking for someone curious and collaborative who asks questions, learns existing patterns quickly, and communicates clearly with a distributed team.

Compensation & Contract

• Rate: USD $35–$45 per hour
