What to Expect
We're looking for a Revenue Accounting Manager to lead global revenue accounting operations our Noord-Scharwoude and/or Amsterdam office. This role owns the end-to-end revenue accounting process, from assisting the business with client orders to monthly close activities and collections. You will manage a team 6 (largely outsourced) accountants to ensure timely, accurate execution. You'll work closely with leadership, sales and other departments bridging time zones and processes to maintain a single, consistent global revenue accounting standard.
This is a hands-on management role suited to someone who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves in SAP, talking to clients as leading an outsourced team.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual company wide multi-currency revenue close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP.
- Manage and oversee a team of accountants, including task allocation, quality review, training, and performance management
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue schedules prepared by the team
- Maintain and improve revenue recognition processes in SAP, ensuring proper system configuration and data integrity
- Contribute to collection process, which includes customer contact as well as liquidity reporting
- Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce close cycle time
- Ensure compliance with local statutory and tax requirements related to revenue reporting across markets
- Prepare variance analyses and management reporting, in collaboration with FP&A on revenue trends for senior leadership
- Act as a key point of contact for cross-functional teams (Sales, Logistics, Legal, FP&A) on revenue-related matters
Skills and Attributes
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a team-lead capacity
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP (FI/CO or relevant revenue modules) is a must (Zero operates on SAP S/4 Hana)
- Proven experience managing, or working with, outsourced or offshore accounting teams
- Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606)
- Experience working within a global, matrixed organization and collaborating across time zones with a US headquarters
- Experience in a high-growth, multinational, or automotive/manufacturing environment is a plus
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent written and spoken English; additional European languages are a plus
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment typical of a scaling EV company
- Some travel can be expected (other locations in The Netherlands as well as occasionally internationally)
- Flexibility to engage with different time-zones on a regular basis
