Your role
As the Global Tooling Specialist VTS , your mission is to develop and implement a robust and cost-effective process and infrastructure for the global management of service tooling and equipment (test hardware) used in maintenance, test, and repair operations. Supporting field service teams, workshops, and service technology centers (STCs), this role is essential to the success of the 3D service model and efficient operations across the VTS business.
You will collaborate with key stakeholders across Product Companies (PCs), VTS Supply Chain, Global Service Technical Support, VTS Technical Product Management and VTS Operations to ensure tooling solutions meet operational requirements, comply with safety standards, and are optimized for cost, functionality, and ease of use throughout the product lifecycle.
Your Responsibilities
- Global Tooling Process: Define and establish a global process for the management of maintenance, test, and overhaul tooling and equipment, with a clear focus on safety, usability, lifecycle efficiency, and stakeholder alignment. Incorporate Design for Cost principles to ensure tooling proposed by Service Development Engineers is scalable, service-friendly, and economically viable.
- Tooling Safety & Compliance: Ensure all service tooling and equipment meet internal and external safety standards. Develop risk assessments, safety guidelines, and maintenance protocols to protect users and maintain regulatory compliance across all global locations. Champion a culture of safety in tooling design, procurement, and usage.
- Supply Chain Collaboration: Partner with VTS and PC Supply Chain teams to define and optimize sourcing strategies, including standardization, supplier management, and cost control. Identify opportunities for tool reuse and lifecycle extension.
- Intellectual Property and Knowledge Sharing: Define processes to protect and manage tooling-related intellectual property. Enable effective knowledge transfer and best practice sharing across PCs, Customer Centers, and other global stakeholders (i.a GECIA). Support robust configuration management of tooling assets throughout their lifecycle.
- Systems Development: Develop and manage a modern, user-centric digital infrastructure for tooling management (e.g., tooling databases, ordering systems, asset tracking). Ensure scalability, accessibility, and data integrity across regions and service teams.
To succeed, you will need
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent with focus on Mechanical Design or Manufacturing
- Relevant experience (3+ years) in a Manufacturing, Engineering or Service of industrial equipment (rotating machinery)
- Proven project management skills, with demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional projects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to handle cross-cultural interactions effectively.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a knack for establishing streamlined processes and using innovative tools to reach this
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality engineering outcomes
