Collection officer

What You Will Do

The Collection Officer is responsible for ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments from both business and private customers, locally and internationally. Your customers are primarily located in Europe and the UK. The role involves contacting customers across all applicable countries, managing overdue invoices, maintaining clean debt ledgers, and escalating unresolved cases while adhering to company policies and financial regulations. Maintain professional communication through phone and email to foster strong customer relationships. Blocking accounts if applicable and initiating action by legal partners.

How does your workday look like?

An average working day starts with managing the daily worklist and ensure that assigned collection cases are followed up and resolved in a timely manner. This involves setting priorities, carrying out actions, and closely monitoring the progress of cases. Also retrieving and analyzing outstanding payments within the accounts receivable portfolio. You will then assess whether incoming payments can be processed directly or whether customer contact is required to obtain a payment remittance specification.

This role involves contacting both business and private customers, internal departments, and external parties, managing overdue invoices, maintaining clean debt ledgers, and escalating unresolved cases while adhering to company policies and financial regulations.

Your responsibilities will include managing client enquiries, refund cases, maintaining relationships with internal departments, customers, and collection agency by keeping the debt ledgers of business customers accurate and up to date.

What do you bring?

For this position, we are looking for a proactive and solution-oriented candidate who can effectively assess financial risks and feels comfortable in an international working environment.

You have:

• Post-secondary education in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role within Credit Management, Debtor Management, Finance or a similar position.
• Knowledge of financial reporting, creditworthiness assessments, ability to interpret financial information and make informed decisions based on it.
• Fluency in English is required, in combination with at least one additional relevant language.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
• Experience of financial software, such as SAP (preferred but not mandatory).
• A proactive and solution-oriented attitude, where you can work independently but also seek cooperation with colleagues when necessary.
