Job purpose

The HR Cluster Head will partner closely with the General Managers, Leadership Teams and senior Pharma Commercial stakeholders to adapt and execute the people plan in line with GSK’s HR strategy, while bringing strong local context and market insight. This is a strategically important role at a critical point of business transformation, as the three countries prepare for Specialty and Oncology launches and accelerate their agenda on strategic workforce planning, organisational readiness, AI and digital upskilling.

As a trusted partner to the business, the role will drive impact across talent, leadership, culture and capability, helping to build the conditions for sustainable growth and a high-performance culture. It combines strategic influence with practical accountability, including License to Operate in the given markets, support for Pharma Commercial and Pharma-aligned population, and flexibility to respond to peaks in demand, key projects and initiatives. The role offers meaningful proximity to the business and a valuable platform to strengthen business acumen while shaping the future people agenda of these markets.

Your responsibilities

  • Be a trusted and agile HR partner to leaders to drive Pharma Commercial’s People Agenda and deliver against People Priorities. Maintain a strong understanding of the Pharma Commercial business, business strategy and GSK in the context of HR activity to improve business performance.
  • Coaching and Developing Senior Leaders : To apply insights and influencing skills to coach and counsel senior business leaders. To provide input, constructive feedback, and healthy challenge in ways that build trust and enable teams and individuals to perform at their best. To identify and help close leadership capability gaps, including but not limited to leading through change, influencing, developing others, performance management, and difficult conversations.
  • Organisational Design and Development : To partner with the business to identify opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness. To identify and improve how an organization channels resources, defines structure, jobs, and work processes, motivates performance, and shapes the patterns of informal interactions and relationships as key enablers of business strategy. To use data and analytics to understand the business, identify opportunities for improvement, assess potential solutions, and monitor achievement of benefits.
  • Business Acumen : To apply knowledge and insights on the internal and external business environment in the context of HR activity to improve business performance. To leverage an understanding of the bottom-line impact of HR initiatives and prioritize resources based on strategic impact, cost, risk, and short- vs. long-term trade-offs. To identify issues and opportunities for business improvements in a people context.
  • Culture Development : To translate the business agenda into the desired culture in an engaging, inclusive way. To coach and influence leaders to develop and enhance engagement strategies. To develop leaders' capability to understand how they impact and shift the culture. To ensure the creation of a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Succession Planning and Talent Management : To coach and challenge leaders to identify, attract, develop, and retain a strong talent pipeline. To drive senior leaders to embed best practices and effective succession planning processes. To align succession planning and talent management to the overall workforce strategy. To improve leaders' ability to lead and develop employees to reach their full potential, regardless of background or differences.
  • Workforce and Strategic Capability Planning : To apply business insight to diagnose present and future capability gaps. To utilize an understanding of external talent benchmarks and best practices to inform internal strategies and propose innovative ways of attracting, engaging, and retaining talent. To develop and implement optimal workforce plans focused on key strategic capabilities required to drive the business.
  • Leading and Delivering Change : To identify the potential impact of pending organizational and cultural changes and help formulate integrated solutions designed to assist leaders in supporting their employees to embrace and embed change, while achieving the desired business outcomes.
  • HR Governance and Risk Management : To ensure HR License to operate is maintained at all times as HRCH for the HR Cluster. To apply knowledge of operating principles and policies to HR activity to ensure risks are mitigated. To manage escalations and support the business in creating a positive employee environment. To escalate appropriately and partner with the Employee Resource Centre to resolve high-risk issues and implement strategies to reduce such issues. To ensure inappropriate behaviours are dealt with in a direct, challenging, and tough-minded manner.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor degree level in Human Resources Management or related Social Science degree
  • Experience in HR management/leadership roles in the pharmaceutical sector – being part of Leadership Team
  • Experience working in a highly complex organisation within a matrixed structure, leveraging influence within a complex network of stakeholders
  • Global / Regional / Cluster HRBP or HRCH experience supporting multiple countries (knowledge of local labour laws required)
  • Experience delivering interventions across a range of HR activities including leadership development, talent management, exec coaching, strategic workforce planning, building high performing teams, capability builds and performance management
  • Experience designing, and delivering large scale, complex, transformational, cultural and organizational change projects, improving organizational effectiveness
  • Experience recruiting, onboarding, influencing, challenging, coaching and counselling senior leaders (GM / LT)
  • Strong business acumen and track record of translating business objectives into innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate vision, strategy and direction, in an inspiring and credible manner, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated budget and financial planning experience.
  • Experience using data and analytics to identify business insights
  • Fluency in English - written and spoken

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master’s degree level in Human Resources Management or related Social Science degree
  • MBA or additional business and leadership experience
  • HRBP experience supporting Netherlands / Ireland / Finland - knowledge of local social legislations, local industrial relations, cultural differences, etc.
  • HRBP experience in supporting Commercial or Medical organization
  • Experience working with unions and works councils in Netherlands on organizational changes
  • Strong experience in project management, continuous improvement and process excellence

Dutch Salary Range: EUR 106,500 to EUR 177,500The annual gross base salary range for new hires in this position is listed above for each applicable location.
