Why this role matters:
As a Senior Meteorologist, you'll be the go to decision maker on shift for tasking and decision calls, helping guide how ICEYE responds to floods, wildfires, storms, and other natural catastrophes as they unfold. You'll be the first point of contact for operational decisions, mentor and support other meteorologists, and help shape the processes that keep a 24/7 global operation running smoothly.

Your day-to-day responsibilities
- Act as the operational point of contact on shift, making forecasting and tasking decisions within established boundaries
- Lead medium-range forecasting and acquisition planning across flood, wind, and wildfire events, working closely with the wider team during high-impact events
- Serve as the on-shift expert on satellite capabilities and imaging
- Contribute to process improvements and operational best practices
- Mentor and support other meteorologists on shift, helping distribute workload effectively
- Participate in a rotating on-call weekend schedule (approximately one weekend every three weeks), with compensation per company policy
What we’re looking for
Must haves:
- Degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a closely related field, or an equivalent training course
- Demonstrated experience in operational forecasting, ideally in a time-critical or 24/7 environment
- Strong working knowledge of forecasting for global flooding and tropical cyclones
- Comfortable making and owning decisions independently under time pressure
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including with non-technical stakeholders
- Willingness to participate in on-call weekend rotations and occasional 24/7 operation coverage
- Experience identifying and escalating process gaps or inefficiencies
Nice to haves:
- Familiarity with satellite remote sensing or SAR imagery
- Experience with root-cause analysis or retrospective/post-incident review processes
- Exposure to KPI or OKR frameworks in an operational setting
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
- Basic QGIS or Python coding skills
