Head of Product
Famly · Copenhagen, Denmark
You apply on the site where the job is posted. I never handle applications.
Every day, nursery and school managers lose hours to rotas, ratios, staff absence, and the time tracking admin that follows — time they'd rather spend with their staff and the children in their care. Staffing is a nursery's single biggest cost line, and one of the most tightly regulated parts of running one — ratios, qualifications, overtime and time-off rules all vary market by market. Get it right, and you unlock better economics, more predictable site capacity, and more time for staff to focus on the children in their care. That's the opportunity Famly's Staffing, Attendance & Capacity experience exists to seize — and we're looking for a Head of Product to lead it.
About Famly
We're on a mission to stop admin stealing the joy of working with young children. We do that with our platform, the world's first proactive assistant for educators and staff that handles admin for them so they can get back to what they love. And we do it with our content (like The Tiny Chair Podcast), reminding educators of the joy and meaning that got them into working with children in the first place.
About the role
This is an ‘own it end-to-end’ role. You’ll be accountable for the success of the Staffing, Attendance & Capacity domain — everything from vision and customer outcomes to delivery and team performance. Think of yourself as the mini-CEO of this part of Famly’s product: you bring together product, design and engineering to solve real problems for the people who run nurseries, and to deliver measurable impact for the business.
It’s a domain with genuine complexity. Staff schedules, ratios, time tracking, absence management and payroll sit at the intersection of HR, workforce management and local regulation — and every market Famly operates in has its own rules and quirks. You’ll need to get comfortable making good, streamlined decisions in that complexity, fast.
You won’t do this alone. You’ll lead a team of builders/engineers, a product designer and a product manager, and your job is to multiply their impact — setting direction and holding accountability for outcomes, while giving your team a genuine mandate to solve problems within that direction.
What you’ll be doing
- Own the vision and strategy for Staffing, Attendance & Capacity, and agree the outcomes (OKRs) that ladder up to Famly’s company goals.
- Lead, grow and manage a cross-functional team of engineers, designers and product people — including hiring, performance and development.
- Hold final accountability for crew strategy and delivery, working closely with your Product Manager on day-to-day and mid-term prioritisation.
- Navigate the real-world complexity of workforce management, time tracking and payroll across multiple markets — balancing compliance, usability and commercial impact.
- Monitor adoption, engagement, customer satisfaction and commercial results, and use them to keep your team focused on outcomes, not just output.
- Partner with other Heads of Product, and with our Builder Enablement team, to keep Famly’s product experience cohesive and our delivery fast.
- Be a visible, trusted leader across the organisation — someone people want to work with and for.
You’ll thrive in this role if you’re
- A founder, intrapreneur, or product leader with a multi-disciplinary background — or simply someone who thinks, acts and delivers like an owner.
- A genuinely product-minded person, with strong instincts for what makes a product good and a customer problem worth solving.
- A self-starter with a go-getting attitude and high personal accountability — you don’t wait to be told what’s next.
- Ideally, an experienced manager in managing people — and ideally, you’ve run a team with full accountability for its results before.
- Able to set and communicate a strategic vision, and just as importantly, the ability to operationalise it and get it delivered.
- Having a high tolerance for complexity and ambiguity, and the judgement to make good decisions in an area — HR, time tracking, workforce management, payroll — with plenty of market and regulatory nuance.
- Experienced in Scale-up, childcare management, or vertical SaaS experience is a plus.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Copenhagen.
And who are Famly?
You’re probably wondering at this stage, and Famly are...? Well, it all began when our co-founder Henrik’s daughter was ready to start at daycare. He couldn’t believe the amount of work being done on paper - and how distant he felt from his first child during the day. The paper ‘parent’ books they exchanged once a month just weren’t cutting it. Together with his friend, our co-founder and CEO Anders, they set about solving that.
These days, about 180 of us build Famly for more than 10,000 institutions and over 1 million parents.
We handle admin stress so they can get back to what matters, and we make it easier than ever to connect home, and nursery so parents can play a part in their child’s day. If you join us, you’ll be building, selling, or support customers with everything from staff rotas and invoices, to child development and parent communication.
How we work
Famly prides itself on a few principles; we choose simplicity, we believe friendliness is a superpower, we set the pace, and we want everyone to be surrounded by talent.
It all adds up to a culture that refuses to make employees choose between a place that is ambitious and sets the pace for what good looks like - and one that is a nice place to work. We think you can be ambitious and kind and when you get to meet our team, we hope you’ll agree.
What we expect of you, is that you make others shine, that you believe in being better than yesterday, and you are not afraid to just ‘get it done’. Finally, we want you to value ‘sitting in the tiny chair’ - which means you look at your work through the impact it has on our customers: the people sitting in tiny chairs in childcare settings all over the world.
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive pension, private health insurance, and paid maternity/paternity leave.
- A clear career framework and coaching to make sure you’re growing, a 10,000 DKK personal development budget and a ‘We’ll buy you any book you want’ policy.
- We guarantee we’ll create the time, space and leadership (as well as the budget) to make sure you grow and develop.
- We want to set the pace, and don’t cut corners when it comes to investing in tooling and technology that you need to be at the frontier of tech.
- We’re all about hiring clever people who are good humans too. It means Famly is full of top thinkers and generous teammates waiting to help you shine.
- We like to give a lot of ownership both in terms of responsibility and freedom to try new, challenging tasks.
- Top-notch work equipment (including noise cancelling headphones for those focus periods!).
- We believe collaboration happens best in person, so we have the default of four days a week in office - but with plenty of flexibility for when life happens outside the office too.
We're looking to fill the position as soon as possible, so get your application in today by sending us:
- Your CV
- A cover letter to tell us what you can bring to the role, and what speaks to you about Famly.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
