Transient Line Technician

Amentum is seeking a Grounds Laborer to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Transient Line Technician is responsible for assisting the Transient Line Production Superintendent with ground handling and servicing of arriving and departing aircraft.
Job Responsibilities
- Performing standard aviation operations and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Providing ground handling and servicing for arriving and departing aircraft, including refueling, towing, and securing as required.
- Following and performing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standard marshaling commands, ensuring safe and efficient aircraft movements on the ground.
- Supporting aircraft maintenance checks, inspections, and operational activities under supervision.
- Coordinating with T-Line supervisors and other team members to ensure timely servicing of all aircraft.
- Operating ground support equipment (GSE) and other vehicles in compliance with safety protocols.
- Assisting in the implementation of procedures for safe handling of large-body aircraft operations, ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with aviation industry and organizational standards.
- Identifying and resolving minor maintenance or servicing issues when required or escalating them to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintaining records of services performed and reporting any discrepancies or issues encountered during servicing activities.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum two (2) years of general aircraft maintenance experience. (Experience with large-body aircraft is preferred.)
- Demonstrated understanding of FAA standard marshalling commands and ability to perform these tasks confidently.
- Must possess a current and valid driver’s license (U.S. or International).
- Knowledge of aviation ground handling practices and procedures, with an emphasis on safety compliance.
- Ability to successfully complete annual training in accordance with applicable Air Force training guidance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures. Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal aviation ground handling certifications or related training.
- Previous experience in servicing large-body aircraft operations, including cargo and passenger aircraft.
- Familiarity with Air Mobility Command (AMC) procedures and best practices.
- Prior experience in an OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) operational environment or austere environments with a multi-national workforce.
- Valid country driver’s license.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
