Amentum is seeking a Synchrolift Electrical Control Operator to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Synchrolift Electrical Control Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the electrical control systems supporting Synchrolift operations. This position ensures electrical systems function safely and reliably during dry docking and undocking operations while maintaining compliance with established safety and operations standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor Synchrolift electrical control systems during vessel docking and undocking operations.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of Motor Control Center systems and related electrical components.
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues to maintain continuous and reliable system operation.
- Complete manufacturer provided training for Synchrolift electrical control system operations.
- Collaborate with Journeyman Electricians to ensure electrical maintenance and repairs meet industry standards.
- Conduct routine inspections and identify potential electrical system faults.
- Follow operational procedures, technical manuals, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Respond to electrical emergencies and system failures affecting Synchrolift operations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and system issues.
- Ensure all electrical work is performed safely and in accordance with established operational protocols.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong electrical background with experience operating and maintaining complex electrical systems.
- Knowledge of Motor Control Center operations.
- Familiarity with electrical standards, maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
- Completion of required Synchrolift manufacturer training or ability to complete training upon hire.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce
- A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle.
- Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent.
- Experience with electrical systems supporting large mechanical equipment or maritime systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively troubleshoot complex electrical systems.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in offices, industrial warehouses, ports, airfields, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
