The Department of Materials Science and Engineering aims to be an environment for successful and valuable research and education with a focus on materials science solutions for important societal challenges. Our department is an exciting workplace with research in a broad technology-related area, from basic research to large-scale applied research, and close contacts with students through the department's involvement in engineering, bachelors and master's programs. Our research and teaching are conducted within seven divisions with different research focuses, as well as a division that provides support and service. About the division
The Division of Biomedical Engineering is part of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Ångström Laboratory. We perform research within the development and evaluation of new materials in interaction with biological systems to understand the underlying principles. For us, it is equally important to study the impact of materials on biological processes as well as the impact of biological processes on materials. Our ambition is to foster a dynamic teaching and research environment that is internationally recognised for its excellence in connecting basic research with clinical applications.

Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support. Your duties will include organizing, structuring and developing working procedures within the division and the two research groups. The role include both simpler and more advanced tasks.
Typical duties include:
- Providing support and service to the employees at the division
- Organizing meetings, both for smaller groups and larger scientific symposia
- Taking meeting minutes
- Updating websites and social media with the latest research results and scientific events.
- Making travel arrangements
- Preparing and reporting project and group budgets in collaboration with the department's financial officers
- Assisting with financial and scientific reporting to the University as well as to national and international research funding bodies
- Recruitment administration
Qualifications
- A university degree or equivalent competence deemed relevant by the employer
- Documented experience of working in larger projects within the public or private sector
- Experience of financial administration and/or proficiency in graphic design
- Good knowledge in English, both spoken and written
Additional qualifications
- Experience of a similar role within a university or higher education institution
- A doctoral degree in engineering, natural sciences or medicine
- An interest in financial administration and using Excel as a tool
- Documented experience of scientific and financial reporting
- Documented experience of collaboration and external communication
- Training in project administration/coordination and leadership
- An interest in research and science

It is important that you are able to explain and communicate information clearly, are well organized, have a good eye for detail, and can work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. To thrive in this role, you should be unpretentious and open to new challenges and different types of tasks.
As the number and scope of tasks will vary over time, you need to be flexible and able to allocate your time appropriately between several tasks of varying size and complexity. You should also be able to prioritize effectively in order to deliver within set deadlines.
