Working Student – Flight Test Tools, Processes & Coordination (m/f/d)

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Working Student in Flight Test Tools, Processes & Coordination, you will support us in developing the digital and organisational structures required for safe, efficient and scalable flight test operations.

Your focus will be on understanding, improving and automating the workflows behind our ground and flight test activities. You will analyse how our current processes, tools and records work across different aircraft programmes and help us make them simpler, more consistent and easier to use. This includes digital checklists, flight logs, technical records and campaign coordination tools that are appropriate for the respective project phase, aircraft complexity and operational risk.

Depending on the use case, you will support the evaluation of existing software, configure available tools or develop lightweight internal applications and automations. An important part of your role will therefore be assessing whether a suitable solution should be purchased, adapted or developed internally.

In this role, you will contribute directly to the development of a growing flight test organization as we prepare for multiple prototypes, parallel test campaigns and a larger team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Create a structured overview of the processes, tools, interfaces and records currently used within our flight test activities and identify opportunities for improvement, simplification and automation.
• Define and implement concrete measures for more consistent and efficient workflows across different aircraft programmes and risk levels.
• Evaluate available software solutions and assess their functional suitability, integration effort, usability, scalability and cost compared with developing an internal solution.
• Develop lightweight applications, scripts, interfaces or workflow automations together with the relevant users and technical stakeholders.
• Assist with planning and coordination during test campaigns, including crew availability, crew assignments, training status, campaign progress and the maintenance of flight and technical records.
• Support organizational activities such as booking flight test areas and coordinating travel, accommodation and rental cars for the flight test crew.

WHAT YOU BRING

• You are currently enrolled in computer science, business informatics, aerospace engineering, industrial engineering or a comparable degree programme with a strong technical or software-related focus.
• You enjoy understanding complex workflows, structuring information and turning improvement ideas into solutions that people can reliably use in daily operations.
• You have practical programming experience and are able to develop small applications, scripts or automations. Experience with languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C# or comparable technologies is beneficial.
• You understand basic software-development principles and can translate operational user needs into clear functional requirements and practical technical solutions. Experience with APIs, databases, workflow automation, low-code platforms, mobile applications or cloud-based collaboration tools is an advantage.
• A strong interest in aviation, flight testing, unmanned aircraft or safety-critical operational processes helps you understand the purpose behind the tools and procedures you will work on.
• You communicate clearly in English and feel comfortable working with technical and operational documentation. German language skills are beneficial.
