The Department of Pharmacy (IFF) at Uppsala University has an interdisciplinary environment at the center of the pharmaceutical arena. With frontline research, first-rate education and extensive collaborations we constitute an important driving force in the development of our academic field. IFF has approximately 150 employees and a revenue of nearly 180 million SEK.In this inspiring environment our rich diversity of research groups, several of international prominence, develop and conduct work of great scientific importance. Among our core competences are computational modelling and simulations, PKPD, in vitro ADME models, advanced in vivo methods, development of biological medicines, as well as patient and societal aspects, from optimizing the use of drugs in individuals to societal pharmaceutical policies. Together, we form a unique cluster of academic competences within pharmaceutical science, playing a key role in shaping the future of pharmacy in both Sweden and globally.
Our scientific focus areas in selection: • Biologics • Clinical Pharmacy • Drug Delivery • Molecular Pharmaceutics • Pharmaceutics and Nanotechnology• Pharmacometrics • Pharmacodynamics • Pharmacokinetics • Pharmacoeconomics • Pharmacoepidemiology • Pharmacotherapy • Social Pharmacy

Duties: The project will involve developing platform approaches for pharmacokinetic (PK)- pharmacodynamic (PD) modelling (pharmacometrics) -based applications in oncology, including quantification of relationships between longitudinal tumor size dynamics and survival outcomes and modelling longitudinal hematological safety endpoints in patients with solid tumors undergoing treatment with anticancer therapies such as combinations or antibody-drug candidates (ADCs).
Platform approaches that will be developed may focus on an approach to understand and quantify the relationship between longitudinal tumor size dynamics and survival (PFS/OS) in select tumors. The impact of therapeutic agent and other critical covariates will be assessed. The modeling framework will incorporate suitable methodological mitigations for immortal time bias. Moreover, the project may explore platform approaches to jointly model longitudinal hematological safety endpoints in patients treated with anticancer therapies.
We expect the project to lead to new advances in predictive and quantitative models of value for the design of studies in oncology drug development by supporting a robust characterization of benefit-risk profiles.
Qualifications: The applicant must hold a doctoral degree in pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling/pharmacometrics or a related field, or have a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree in the specified areas.
We place great importance on personal suitability and motivation to improve model-based methods for the development of cancer therapies. The applicant must be able to work independently and take their own initiative, but also function well in a group. Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is required.
Eligibility: To be eligible, you must have obtained a doctoral degree or equivalent in a relevant field within three years before the last application date. Those who obtained their degree earlier may also be eligible if special circumstances apply, such as illness, parental leave, or positions of trust.
Merits/Advantageous qualifications: Documented experience in pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling and simulation. Modeling in software such as NONMEM and R. Interest in, and skill at, scientific writing is highly desirable, as is experience with international collaborations.
