The Position

We are seeking an Engineer Apprentice (3 months) starting in either March og February to join our offshore fleet.

During your apprenticeship in ESVAGT, you will be assigned to one of our vessels above 3000 kW, either within our Multirole ERRV fleet or our Service Operation Vessels (SOV) in offshore wind. The type of vessel depends on your experience and background.You will become part of a dedicated engine room team, typically consisting of a Chief Engineer, 1st Engineer, and 2nd/Junior Engineer. While the Chief Engineer holds overall responsibility, tasks are carried out collaboratively within the team.

As an Engineer Apprentice, you will follow the engine crew in their daily work and gradually take on your own tasks as your competencies develop.

Your primary tasks will include, but are not limited to:

Assisting with operation and maintenance of engine room systems
Participating in maintenance of deck equipment such as cranes, davits, and Fast Rescue Boats (FRBs)
Supporting maintenance of gangway systems and DP systems where relevant
Assisting with troubleshooting, repairs, and routine maintenance
Participating in safety drills, including firefighting, first aid, and rescue operations
Contributing actively to onboard training and completion of your education record book

Qualifications

We expect that you:

Are currently enrolled in a Marine Engineering (Maskinmester) education programme
Are in good physical condition
Have a strong focus on safety and are committed to following procedures and guidelines
Are proactive, motivated, and willing to actively participate in both tasks and training onboard
Have an interest in offshore emergency response, including fire, rescue, and first aid

Certificates:

Basic Safety Training (STCW)
Valid medical certificate for seafarers and a valid passport
Seafarer’s discharge book
Clean drug test (zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol onboard)

The following may also be relevant:

Interest in or experience with offshore vessels, ERRV, or offshore wind operations

Working in ESVAGT

In ESVAGT, you can expect a structured and supportive apprenticeship with strong focus on both personal and professional development.

You will follow a fixed engine crew throughout your apprenticeship and receive training prior to your first assignment, including courses in safety behaviour and FRB operations.

The apprenticeship is structured as follows:

4-day introduction course in Esbjerg
4 weeks onboard vessel
4 weeks leave
Final 4 weeks onboard

During your apprenticeship, you will receive free accommodation, meals, your own cabin with bathroom, and access to fitness facilities onboard. You are eligible for SU during the apprenticeship.

At the end of your apprenticeship, you will be evaluated for potential future employment as a Junior Engineer/2nd Engineer. If assessed as suitable and a position is available, you may be offered employment after completing your education.
