Senior Presales Engineer – Automotive

We are looking for a Senior Presales Engineer – Automotive with a strong engineering background to support technical discovery, solution shaping, rough estimation, and proposal preparation for automotive software projects. This is an engineering-led customer-facing role, not a sales role. You will work closely with customers, sales, delivery, and engineering teams to understand customer challenges, assess technical feasibility, define possible solution approaches, and help create realistic proposals.

We expect this person to bring deep embedded automotive software expertise and experience from customer-facing technical work in a software services, outsourcing, outstaffing, or engineering consulting environment. The ideal candidate can discuss complex technical topics with customer engineering teams, define architecture and platform assumptions, estimate work in uncertain situations, and connect customer needs with Unikie’s delivery capabilities in areas such as software-defined vehicles, connectivity, ADAS, OTA, V2X, Android Auto / Automotive, security, and embedded software platforms.

What will you do:

• Join early customer discussions to understand technical needs, business challenges, and project context.
• Assess customer requirements and define realistic solution approaches for automotive software projects.
• Support technical discovery, feasibility analysis, architecture assumptions, and platform choices.
• Help turn unclear customer needs into a projectable delivery approach, including scope, assumptions, risks, and effort estimates.
• Prepare delivery plans and technical proposal content together with sales and delivery teams.
• Act as a technical bridge between customers, sales, delivery, and engineering teams.
• Represent Unikie’s automotive software expertise in customer meetings and help build technical credibility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Senior-level engineering background in embedded software, automotive software, or connected vehicle systems.
• Strong experience from the automotive domain, ideally in software-defined vehicles, ADAS, connectivity, OTA, V2X, Android Auto / Automotive, security, or embedded platforms.
• Experience working in a software services, outsourcing, outstaffing, engineering consulting, or customer project environment.
• Ability to understand customer technical challenges and translate them into realistic solution approaches.
• Experience with technical discovery, feasibility assessment, architecture/platform assumptions, and proposal preparation.
• Ability to create rough estimates and delivery plans in situations where requirements are incomplete or uncertain.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills, with ability to discuss technical topics with both engineering teams and decision-makers.
• Fluent English language skills; German is considered a plus.
