Amentum is seeking a Fire Alarm Dispatcher to support a unique US Navy program on the
island of Diego Garcia. The Fire Alarm Dispatcher serves as the primary communications
link for Fire and Emergency Services, ensuring prompt and effective emergency response
by monitoring fi re alarm systems, receiving emergency calls, dispatching personnel and
equipment, and maintaining accurate communication throughout emergency incidents.
Job Responsibilities:
Monitor fi re alarm systems and respond promptly to alarm activations in
accordance with established emergency response procedures.
- Receive, prioritize, and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch fi re, rescue, emergency medical, and other emergency response
personnel using established communication protocols.
- Operate communications equipment including radios, telephones, and Computer
Aided Dispatch systems.
- Maintain continuous communication with responding units, providing real time
updates and critical incident information.
- Document all calls for service, dispatched units, alarm activations, and emergency
incidents accurately and completely.
- Monitor the operational status of fi re alarm and communications systems and
report equipment malfunctions for immediate corrective action.
- Coordinate emergency communications between Fire and Emergency Services
personnel, outside agencies, and installation stakeholders.
- Assist in tracking alarm system maintenance, testing, and scheduled inspections to
minimize system downtime.
- Maintain confidentiality of emergency information and ensure compliance with
department policies and procedures.* Support emergency operations by providing timely, accurate, and professional
communications during routine and high-risk incidents.
- Participate in required training, certification, and continuing education programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and
level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as Telecommunications Operator I and II and Hazardous Materials
Awareness, or the ability to obtain all required certifications within 12 months of
employment.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in emergency dispatch, public safety
communications, fi re service communications, or a related fi eld.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency situations.
- Proficiency in operating radios, telephones, Computer Aided Dispatch systems, and
other emergency communications equipment.
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign
Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain
compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Must read,
speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract
requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United
States) environment with a multi-national workforce
- Experience supporting government, military, or emergency response
communications operations.
- Experience working in a multi-agency emergency communications center.
- Advanced training or certification in emergency communications, Computer Aided
Dispatch, incident communications, or emergency management. Other Responsibilities:

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote
overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office,
industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to
high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work
schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on
operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and
working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical,
security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas
location.
