Barber Ship Management is a technical ship management company based in Hamburg, Germany. Jointly owned by Wilhelmsen Ship Management and MPC Oceanic Group, it operates as a sister company to Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management. While Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management specializes in container vessels, bulk carriers and heavy lift vessels, Barber Ship Management focuses on the technical management of oil, product and chemical tankers.

Your Responsibilities
As Fleet Manager, you hold overall responsibility for the operational and strategic management of our tanker fleet division. Key objectives include:

Leading, coaching and developing a team of Vessel Managers, with clear accountability for safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient vessel operations.

Ensuring compliance with all relevant national and international regulations and certifications (e.g. ISO 9001/14001, TMSA, OCIMF/SIRE)

Efficient and high-quality management of the assigned vessels and teams, including continuous improvement of processes and customer satisfaction

Building, maintaining, and developing sustainable relationships with tanker clients

Overseeing and managing daily fleet operations, including budget and cost control

Driving digitalisation and data-driven HSEQ performance across the fleet

Ensuring company certification and compliance

Representing the company to clients, partners and service providers Your Profile
-
Degree in a technical or business discipline (e.g. nautical science, marine engineering, business administration)

At least 10 years of relevant maritime experience, including substantial experience in technical ship management and tanker operations.

Proven leadership and people management capability, ideally leading Vessel Managers or comparable teams in complex operational environments

High self-motivation and clear result orientation

Excellent communication, persuasion and presentation skills

Innovative spirit, willingness to embrace change, and a hands-on mentality
