Job Summary
All Biospecimen Operations employees are responsible for adherence to LabConnect standard operating procedures and policies, and working towards corporate goals. The Biospecimen Coordinator (BSC) will serve in a cross-functional role between Biospecimen Operations. The BSC will perform duties related to inventory, shipment, and destruction requests from the sponsor. This includes, but is not limited to scheduling shipments, shipment request related documentation and communication, and issue resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responding to inventory requests received from sponsor either directly or through Project Management
- Responding to shipment or destruction requests received from sponsor either directly or through Project Management
- Issue resolution or escalation as a result of discrepancies discovered during the inventory, shipping, and/or destruction of samples or at the request of Project Management or Biospecimen Operations
- Maintain recurring shipment schedule
- Triaging ad hoc shipment requests
- Maintaining and triaging destruction requests
- Submitting shipment and/or destruction requests to Biospecimen Operations
- Creating and maintaining pull lists and shipping manifests
- Updating xREACH systems regarding sample status as appropriate
- Acquiring all shipping documentation from Biospecimen Operations
- and/or Logistics (Specialty courier AWB, customs invoices, CDC statements)
- Create appropriate courier bookings for each outbound shipment.
- Liaison between the logistics department, Project Management, and Biospecimen Operations
- Communicating internally and externally on matters related to shipments
- Non-conformance reporting and participation in non-conformance/CAPA investigations.
- Attend protocol trainings/meetings and subsequent staff training
- Support in creating and maintaining training documents and SOPs
- Support training of junior personnel
- Other duties as required by management
Education and Experience
One of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree with 6 months experience in specimen management
- Associate’s degree with 1 year experience in specimen management
- High School Diploma (or GED) with 2 years experience in specimen management
Skills and Ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Computer proficiency required
- Familiarity working with databases, and advanced Excel skills strongly preferred
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload required
- Customer Service experience required
- Critical thinking and ability to problem-solve

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the occupant is regularly required to:
- Sit 70% of the week.
- Stand 15% of the week.
- Walk and/or reach with hands and arms 15% of the week.
- Read text of various sizes.
