Senior Software Engineer at ZeroNorth
This is a high-impact role for a heavy backend engineer, with the chance to shape work across three key tracks: building fuel functionality on our new agentic platform, strengthening the reliability and performance of backend services our customers already rely on, and driving the migration away from legacy systems holding the team back.
You'll play a central role across all three tracks; the stronger the backend foundation you help build, the faster the entire team can move to fully adopt the new agentic platform. It's an opportunity to make a lasting, foundational impact on where the team is headed.
Key responsibilities:
- Build. Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in C# and the .NET ecosystem, with full-stack work in Angular where needed.
- Modernise. Drive the migration away from legacy systems: carve functionality out of ageing components, replace them with well-built services, and keep the platform running while you do it.
- Harden what exists. Improve the reliability, performance, and observability of the backend services in production today, so the platform degrades gracefully instead of failing hard.
- Deliver on the agentic platform. Build fuel functionality on the new platform together with the team and collaborating with the platform teams on shared patterns and tooling.
- Lift the team. Raise the level through code reviews, pairing, and better patterns, so the whole group moves faster toward that goal.
Your profile:
- Deep .NET proficiency. Strong C# and .NET (ideally .NET 10+), with solid experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping web applications. Familiarity with both microservice and monolith architectures.
- Legacy migration experience. You have modernised systems that were live and business-critical, and you know how to do it incrementally rather than with a risky big bang.
- A multiplier mindset. You raise the level of the engineers around you and measure your success by what the team can deliver, not by what you build alone.
- AI-assisted development. You use AI tools as part of your daily engineering work and have a view on where they help and where they don't.
- DevOps experience. Comfortable with modern cloud infrastructure and CI/CD, containerisation (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform). Hands-on Kubernetes is a bonus, not a requirement: our Platform team has built abstractions and documentation on top of it, so engineers can run on the platform with minimal Kubernetes knowledge.
- Quality mindset. Unit and integration testing as a habit, and a commitment to reliable software.
- Communication. Excellent written and verbal English, and experience collaborating across time zones in an agile team.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Tech Stack :
- Backend: C#, ASP.NET Core, .NET, EF
- Frontend: Angular, TypeScript
- Database: SQL Server and PostgreSQL
- Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, GitHub Actions
- Methodology: Agile, Scrum, CI/CD
