Wat is het doel van deze functie?
New technologies enable crypto applications to sustain without any backup powering. Still some sensitive data could be stored in Non-Volatile-Memory (NVM).
Amongst this and other possible applications, there is a need for wiping the data in the NVM. This requires some kind of energy generation induced by a mechanical operation and could be based on Piezo, Triboelectric materials (TENGs), moving magnet through/near coil (inductive pulse generator) or some other materials.

2 Purpose & tasks & required expertise
2.1 Purpose
The purpose of this project is to investigate possible implementations for erasing Non-Volatile Memory, like FLASH, MRAM or EEPROM without an active power supply.
2.2 Tasks
1) Research and analyse energy generating materials that are commercially available in button-like implementations that can integrated with embedded applications.
2) Select commercially available development kit(s) that can be used to setup a representable embedded application.
3) Define the requirements for a system that can perform the ‘cold wipe’ function.
a) Describe all technical KPI’s like latency, accuracy, energy.
4) Design the system
a) Hardware architecture
b) Simulations of analogue behaviour, energy harvesting and calculations.
c) Design embedded software for the microcontroller of the devkit.
5) Test plan and validation.
a) Show that all KPI’s are met.
6) Build a working Proof of Concept (PoC) of the system that can perform the ‘cold wipe’ of an NVM.
7) Demonstrate and present the design, implementation, test and results.
8) Define a roadmap to a turn-key component that can be used for future products.
