Studio Director
Nordic Knots AB · Stockholm, Sweden
You apply on the site where the job is posted. I never handle applications.
Nordic Knots is building a production capability to support its growing digital and e-commerce operation. The Studio Director leads this, owning the full content production pipeline for everything that serves the digital customer journey, from brief to finished asset.
This is the engine behind our digital ecosystem. The Studio Director is responsible for how product photography, e-commerce video, digital design assets, guides, and other always-on content gets planned, produced, quality-controlled, and handed over to the e-commerce team for publishing. You own the process and the output, not the publish button.
Nordic Knots also has an Executive Producer who leads larger, externally-produced brand campaigns and director-driven productions. The Studio Director is a peer to that role. Where the Executive Producer handles the bold, bespoke, and brand-building, the Studio Director handles everything that feeds the digital product: consistent, accurate, scalable, and always on.
What you will do
Own the digital content pipeline
- Run production for all digital ecosystem content, product photography (flats, detail, on-model), e-commerce video loops, how-to guides, tutorials, digital design assets for the website and app
- Manage the full workflow from brief intake through shoot execution, retouching sign-off, and final asset delivery to the e-commerce team
- Maintain quality and consistency across all assets, you are the final sign-off before anything leaves the studio
- Oversee retouching: manage in-house retouchers or external retouching partners, and set the standards for how finished work looks
- Own the DAM, asset organisation, naming conventions, and making sure the e-commerce team always has what they need, when they need it
Build and manage the production setup
- Define the right production model for Nordic Knots, whether that means building in-house infrastructure, partnering with an external facility, running a hybrid setup, or something else. The answer is yours to work out and implement.
- Build and manage relationships with studios, photographers, videographers, stylists, retouchers, and other production vendors
- Set and manage the production budget
- Own and continuously improve production processes: how jobs are briefed, scheduled, resourced, executed, and delivered
Lead the production team
- Hire, develop, and manage a team of producers and production coordinators
- Manage workload and capacity across the team, the right resource on the right job
- Create a culture of ownership, clear prioritisation, and reliable delivery
Collaborate across the business
- Work closely with the e-commerce and digital teams, who are your primary stakeholders, understand their asset needs and build those into your planning
- Partner with the creative team (art directors, creative directors) to translate briefs into production plans, you are not the creative voice, but you make sure the creative vision is executable
- Coordinate with the Project Manager on the handover from creative workflow into production
- Work alongside the Executive Producer as a peer, share learnings, align on shared vendors, and keep the line between your respective scopes clear
- Manage sample coordination, props, and set sourcing as part of shoot preparation
Additional scope
- Print production, trade, wholesale, and retail materials
- Packaging production
What we are looking for
- Experience running a digital studio or content production operation within a fashion, lifestyle, or premium consumer brand, ideally with an e-commerce or digital focus
- Strong understanding of the digital content pipeline: from shoot to retouched, approved, and delivered asset
- Experience managing and developing a team
- Hands-on knowledge of retouching workflows and quality standards, you know what good looks like and can hold vendors and in-house talent to it
- Comfortable owning a DAM system and the asset governance that comes with it
- Solid production operations skills: budgeting, scheduling, vendor management, shoot logistics
- Able to work at the interface of e-commerce and creative, you speak both languages
- Experience with project management tools
- Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus
Who you are
You have strong visual judgment and a genuine feel for quality, and you combine that with the operational rigour to run a smooth, reliable production function. You are the kind of person who takes satisfaction in a clean handover, an asset library that actually makes sense, and a team that knows exactly what they are doing and why. You work well alongside creative people without needing to lead the creative. You are calm, organised, and clear.
