Mobile QA Engineer:
About the role
For one of the larger banks in the Netherlands, Levy Professionals is looking for a Mobile QA Engineer.
You join the team behind the bank’s mobile app, specifically the payment side of it: Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDEAL, debit cards and the new European payment wallet that is being rolled out. These are the flows millions of people use every week, so quality and stability are not negotiable.
The team has one QA today. The scope has grown and you would be the second, working alongside them on the day to day testing rather than taking over the strategy.
The split is roughly 60 percent manual and 40 percent automation. Manual is the larger half because the app depends on a long list of other systems inside the bank, and because a real payment on a real device is still the only way to be sure. Testing is divided about evenly between Android and iOS. The team automates with XCUITest and Espresso.
What you will do
- Design and run tests for mobile payment journeys, from the first screen through to the confirmed transaction
- Validate app behaviour across devices, operating system versions and release cycles
- Build and maintain automated tests alongside the manual work
- Join refinement and raise quality questions before the code is written
- Watch the quality metrics after each release and feed what you find back into the process
- Support the team on the regulatory, security and audit requirements that apply to payments
What you bring
- Hands on experience testing native or hybrid mobile apps. This is the requirement that matters most
- Comfortable on both Android and iOS. Strong on one platform with some exposure to the other also works
- Mid level. You want to run the testing inside a team rather than lead a QA department
- At ease with a 60 percent manual split
- Some automation experience is welcome. Espresso or XCUITest is ideal, Appium or Maestro plus the willingness to pick those up is fine too
- Basic understanding of REST APIs. The backend teams test their own APIs
- Experience with payments is a plus and not a requirement. Other mission critical or high availability applications count for just as much
- Professional working proficiency in English. Dutch is not required
- Based in the Netherlands, and able to be on site one day a week on Wednesday or Thursday
