Want to see your firmware running in environmental monitoring equipment used by customers across Europe?

Sensorbee develops connected sensors and software that measure air quality, noise and vibration. Our devices are deployed with customers across Europe and communicate over cellular IoT (LTE-M, NB-IoT) using the LwM2M device-management protocol. We are a small international team in Linköping, close to Campus Valla and Mjärdevi Science Park, with short decision paths and English as our working language.

The role

You will gradually take over day-to-day firmware development for our main hardware platform. Our current firmware lead is moving into a broader technical leadership role and will support you through the transition, so you can learn the product while steadily taking on more responsibility. The role suits a final-year engineering student, a recent graduate, or an experienced embedded developer who wants more ownership than a large organisation can offer.

Your work will include:

  • Developing firmware in C using Zephyr RTOS and Nordic Semiconductor SoCs
  • Investigating and resolving firmware and device issues from real customer sites
  • Working close to hardware, sensors and communication interfaces
  • Testing, releasing and deploying firmware to our device fleet, and automating that process
  • Maintaining Python-based production test systems on Raspberry Pi
  • Working with our LwM2M platform: firmware updates, device logs and diagnostics
  • Integrating and validating new environmental sensors
  • Measuring and improving power consumption and battery life

What we are looking for

  • Good C programming skills
  • Practical experience with embedded development or microcontrollers
  • Understanding of memory management and communication protocols
  • Experience with I2C, SPI or UART
  • Basic Linux skills and experience with Git
  • Some Python for scripting, testing or data handling
  • Good spoken and written English

This experience can come from professional work, university courses, a thesis or personal projects. You do not need professional experience with all of our technologies.

Nice to have, and things you can learn with us

Zephyr or another RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Nordic SoCs, LTE-M or NB-IoT, LwM2M, low-power design, CI/CD for embedded, production or hardware-in-the-loop testing, and tools such as Joulescope, Otii or Saleae analysers.

We care about your ability to learn and solve problems, not only the technologies you have already used. We also use AI-assisted development tools in parts of our workflow. No experience is needed, but an interest in them helps.

What you get

  • Real responsibility for firmware in deployed products, and influence over technical decisions
  • Hands-on experience with Zephyr, Nordic hardware, cellular IoT and embedded Linux tooling
  • Close cooperation across firmware, hardware, cloud, production and support, so you follow problems from customer report to solution
  • Support from experienced colleagues as you grow into Sensorbee's embedded specialist, with a path towards broader technical or product leadership
  • Work that contributes to healthier, safer cities

Practical details

Six-month probationary period, with the clear intention of continued employment. Full-time is preferred, but 50-80% is possible for the right candidate, for example a student in the final years of an engineering programme. Start as soon as possible or by agreement. Embedded work is hands-on, so the role is primarily on-site at our Linköping office; some remote flexibility may be possible over time. Swedish is helpful but not required.

How to apply

Send your CV or LinkedIn profile, a few lines about why the role interests you, and an example of an embedded project you have enjoyed working on. Let us know whether you want full-time or part-time work and when you could start. A GitHub or project link is welcome if you have one. No cover letter required.

We review applications continuously.
