You apply on the site where the job is posted. I never handle applications.

What to Expect As the Sr Controls Engineer for the Remanufacturing team, you will lead the site's automation controls strategy and team, driving the technical vision for current and future manufacturing capabilities. Working closely with IT, you will integrate OT/IT systems to enable seamless data flow between the shop floor and enterprise platforms. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams — including Maintenance, Quality, Process, EHS, IE, and Production — to identify and resolve equipment and controls-related failures, improve controls that eliminate or mitigate safety and quality risks, and leverage automation to reduce cycle time, driving technical solutions from concept through deployment.

What You'll Do* Define and drive the site's automation controls roadmap, setting technical direction, priorities, and standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve controls that eliminate or mitigate safety and quality risks

  • Drive initial equipment conceptual development, balancing product specs, process controls, layout, cost, quality, and lead-time; manage automation projects end-to-end including specification, FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning
  • Partner with IT to integrate OT/IT systems — including MES connectivity, SCADA architecture, industrial networking, and data acquisition — enabling real-time data flow, production analytics, and KPI visibility across the shop floor and enterprise platforms
  • Implement control-reliable safety systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment with consideration for OT cybersecurity principles (network segmentation, access control)
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC logic and subsystem programs (robots, vision, test equipment, MES) with strong focus on structure, documentation, maintainability, and reusability
  • Define and maintain Tesla specifications and standards, evaluate vendor quotes, manage project budgets, and design clean, intuitive HMI/SCADA screens that enable effective troubleshooting
  • Deploy automated processes into production, optimize cycle time, and train Maintenance and Production teams for sustained support
  • Mentor and develop controls engineers and technicians, building the team's technical capabilities and fostering a culture of continuous improvement

What You'll Bring* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing with automation equipment, robots, electromechanical systems, PLCs, and motion controls
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, define automation strategy, manage project budgets, and drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficiency in standard and safety PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Beckhoff TwinCAT 3) and SCADA/HMI platforms (e.g. Ignition, WinCC)
  • Proficiency in script-based programming (Python, Go, SQL) and robot programming (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB)
  • Experience commissioning servo systems (Siemens SIMATIC, Rockwell Kinetix, Beckhoff Drive Manager 2), programming 2D/3D vision systems (Keyence XGX, Cognex Insight), and working with industrial communication protocols (Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Profibus, OPC-UA, Modbus)
  • In-depth knowledge of equipment safety standards (EN ISO 10218, EN ISO 12100, Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230) and electrical standards (EN 60204-1, IEC 61439, Low Voltage Directive)
  • Professional-level English communication skills, both written and verbal
