We are looking for a Technical Lead to join our Device Department and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of embedded software for Ajax devices.The Video Devices division is responsible for the full development lifecycle of Ajax video devices, covering every stage — from initial concept and product design to mass production and further scaling. The team focuses on building end-to-end products that combine mechanical design, hardware development, and low-level software integration to ensure stable, real-time system performance.The development process requires deep expertise in optics, image quality, embedded systems, Wi-Fi and networking technologies, as well as audio tuning. The division ensures full vertical integration of all device components, delivering technologically advanced solutions that meet the reliability standards of the Ajax ecosystem and the requirements of global industrial manufacturing.
Requirements for Wi-Fi Solutions Development:
- deep knowledge of Embedded Linux (U-Boot, ARM toolchains, Kernel, RootFS, BusyBox) with 3+ years of hands-on development experience;
- strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP) and video streaming protocols, primarily RTP/RTSP;
- hands-on experience in diagnosing and debugging the TCP/IP protocol stack using tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, iperf, netstat, etc.;
- experience working with Device Tree and configuring udev;
- proficiency in C, C++, and shell scripting, as well as development tools such as Git and Make;
- basic knowledge of digital and analog interfaces, including I2C, SPI, UART/TTL, Ethernet, USB, HDMI, MIPI, SATA, and eMMC;
- basic knowledge of RF technologies, antenna systems and their operating principles, as well as the purpose, architecture, and use of Front-End Modules (FEMs) in Wi-Fi devices;
- knowledge of IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards;
- hands-on experience with the Wi-Fi stack, including wpa_supplicant, hostapd, etc.;
- experience configuring and debugging various Wi-Fi operating modes, including Station, Access Point, and Mesh;
- experience with NetworkManager, Netplan, and systemd-networkd;
- experience integrating Wi-Fi drivers, particularly for modules connected via SDIO and USB interfaces;
- experience implementing communication and update mechanisms for module firmware, including DFU and OTA.
Will be a plus:
- experience working with video streaming, codecs, and decoders (HEVC, H.264, H.265);
- experience with OpenWrt and other networking-related projects;
- experience using Buildroot in the development of hardware projects based on ARM platforms;
- knowledge of and hands-on experience with Python;
- understanding of the specifics of developing low-power devices;
- ability to work with soldering equipment and electronic measurement tools;
- experience developing PC-based utilities and support software for device debugging and testing.
Responsibilities:
- analyze product and technical requirements for video streaming over Wi-Fi and other wireless technologies;
- research solutions from Wi-Fi module and controller vendors, propose and develop architectural solutions for wireless network connectivity and video streaming;
- select components for the Wi-Fi subsystem, bring up EVK/EVB boards, and test SDKs based on product technical requirements;
- collaborate with hardware engineers on circuit design, antenna solutions, and related components;
- develop and integrate hardware-dependent BSP modules for individual components of the network subsystem into the device software;
- perform hardware bring-up and debugging of prototypes and final devices;
- collaborate with the device Firmware team, define and align protocols and software interfaces for communication between system components, firmware updates, etc.;
- diagnose and analyze issues within Wi-Fi subsystems and troubleshoot network stack protocols;
- participate in debugging, optimization, and releases of the final device and firmware;
- collaborate with the QA team and contribute to defining requirements and developing test cases.
