At Picnic, we're building the future of grocery shopping. Through cutting-edge technology and data-driven innovation, we challenge the status quo, set the standard for the industry, and turn ambition into impact at scale. We move fast, think big, and redefine what's possible. If you're a passionate law student or graduate, we're offering you the opportunity to join the Legal team at our Amsterdam HQ.
In a nutshell
Picnic is growing rapidly, bringing bigger and more complex legal challenges every day. As a Legal Assistant, you will handle a wide range of issues both independently and alongside our legal and business teams. Joining us in-house bridges the traditional gap in legal training: you won't just advise from across the table, but sit on the same side to actively shape outcomes from the heart of the business. You will experience firsthand how business moves, proving in real time that business momentum and legal strategy are two sides of the same coin. Instead of acting as a bottleneck, you will clear the path for other teams, actively move the needle, and build the future that external lawyers can only advise on after the fact. You are an integral part of the team from day one, gaining experiences that will kickstart your career [ whether you ultimately aim for a law firm or beyond.
Tricks of the trade
- You will handle a variety of tasks that go beyond your law studies: from leveraging AI within our team and improving (legal) processes to supporting our day-to-day legal operations.
- You will quickly gain ownership of legal projects from start to finish, ranging from smaller, ad hoc matters to larger cross-functional initiatives.
- You will learn how to translate complex legal assessments into actionable business strategy and next-steps.
- You will review, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts.
- You will work closely with other teams such as Finance, Marketing, Commercial, Customer Success and Operations
Your superpowers
- You successfully completed your First State Examination (Erstes Staatsexamen) in German law or are near to it.
- You are fluent, both verbally and in writing, in English and German.
- You are available for at least 4 to 6 months, for ideally 4 or 5 days a week in Amsterdam.
- You are proactive and hands-on: you take initiative, think ahead, and actively look for ways to contribute to the team.
- You are analytically strong, able to assess situations quickly and translate them into clear, concise, and practical solution-oriented advice.
- Prior exposure to cross-functional, interdisciplinary experiences (or a specialization in e.g. business and corporate law) is a plus.
- You are enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated to help build the best milkman on earth!
