European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC) GmbH is the joint venture between TSMC, Bosch, Infineon and NXP. For the first time, global technology leader TSMC is building a semiconductor fab in the heart of Europe, offering cutting-edge manufacturing technologies for next-generation semiconductor products. ESMC represents a shared commitment to strengthening the European semiconductor ecosystem. For our future fab in Dresden, we are looking for a highly motivated and committed: SPC & Metrology Quality Engineer (m/f/d)
Are you passionate about turning complex production data into robust manufacturing stability? As an SPC & Metrology Quality Engineer (m/f/d) at ESMC, you will be at the heart of our quality defense team in Dresden. *Starting on January 2027*, you will take ownership of the quality, calibration, and tool matching of inline metrology systems (such as OCD, CDSEM, and Overlay). Simultaneously, you will drive our Statistical Process Control (SPC) system enhancements to predict manufacturing risks, analyze data trends, and prevent process deviations. This role is a unique opportunity to combine physical engineering with advanced statistical analysis in a brand-new, state-of-the-art semiconductor fab. Job Responsibilities 1. Metrology Quality Assurance: Oversee the performance and accuracy of critical inline metrology tools (including CDSEM, OCD, and Overlay) to ensure stable process measurement. 2. Tool Performance Matching: Develop, implement, and monitor calibration and cross-fab matching methods to guarantee uniform measurements across all metrology tools. 3. SPC System Enhancement: Drive the continuous improvement of SPC systems, including control limit setup, CPK monitoring, process audits, and data analysis. 4. Statistical Analysis & Risk Prevention: Apply advanced statistical methods (such as Design of Experiments (DOE), sampling plans, and reliability modeling) to predict risks and resolve quality issues. 5. Data-Driven Development: Program and develop custom statistical algorithms and analysis scripts to automate quality monitoring and defense reporting. 6. HQ Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams at our Taiwan headquarters to align local metrology and SPC standards with global best practices. Job Qualifications Must-Have:
1. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Material Engineering, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical field. 2. Professional Background: 0 to 3 years of experience in high-tech manufacturing, ideally within the semiconductor industry. 3. Statistical Foundation: Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) procedures, CPK analysis, and statistical evaluation techniques. 4. Programming Skills: Proficiency in statistical software/programming languages such as JMP or R. 5. Languages: Fluent in English (written and spoken) for everyday communication in our international company. 6. Onboarding: Readiness to participate in an extended, hands-on training assignment in Taiwan.
Nice-to-Have:
1. Hands-on experience with metrology tools (CDSEM, OCD, or Overlay inspection systems). 2. Programming skills in Python. 3. A certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt. 4. Basic conversational skills in German and/or Mandarin.
Why Join ESMC?
1. Help build a completely new semiconductor manufacturing site in Europe. 2. Work in a highly international environment with colleagues across Europe, Taiwan and the US. 3. Shape processes instead of maintaining existing structures. 4. Participate in global projects and cross-functional collaboration. 5. International onboarding including 9-12 months of training in Taiwan. Each journey starts with a first step. Joining ESMC at this early stage will provide you with the unique opportunity to actively shape the future of the fab in Dresden, boost your career and put your true potential to the test.
