The Senior Electrical Engineer is the technical authority for the electrical installation on assigned data centre and mission-critical projects. Operating from the site, the role converts design intent into a buildable, compliant and fully documented installation, spanning MV/HV distribution, LV switchgear, generators and UPS, containment, cabling, earthing and lightning protection, fire and security systems, and the interfaces with mechanical and controls packages. The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the electrical engineering team on the project, owns technical submittals and quality documentation, steers the installation through to a commissioned and handed-over state, and develops the engineers and graduates working alongside them.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Act as the lead electrical engineer on the project, providing technical direction to site management, supervisors and subcontractors on all electrical matters.
Review design drawings, schedules, specifications and single-line diagrams for accuracy, coordination and buildability, and drive resolution of any conflicts before they reach site.
Own the RFI, technical submittal and technical query process for the electrical package, ensuring responses are obtained and closed out in step with the construction programme.
Coordinate the electrical installation with mechanical, structural, architectural and controls disciplines through BIM models, combined services drawings and clash resolution.
Prepare and maintain method statements, risk assessments, sequencing and installation plans for electrical works, and ensure they are followed on site.
Direct the electrical engineering team, allocating workload, reviewing outputs and mentoring engineers and graduate engineers in technical practice and site procedures.
Oversee the technical performance of electrical subcontractors, including surveillance of installation quality, adherence to specification and progress against plan.
Manage the electrical quality process: author and maintain inspection and test plans, witness inspections and tests, review test certification and close out non-conformances.
Coordinate materials engineering for the electrical package, including procurement specifications, long-lead equipment tracking, factory acceptance testing and delivery inspections.
Lead the electrical input to pre-commissioning and commissioning, working with the commissioning team on energisation sequences, permits, integrated systems testing and defect resolution.
Track installed quantities and progress for the electrical scope and report against programme milestones, flagging risks and recovery measures to the project manager.
Support the commercial team by identifying scope changes, providing technical substantiation for variations and contributing to procurement evaluations.
Produce and maintain the electrical section of the handover package, including as-built drawings, test records, O&M manuals and training material.
Represent the electrical discipline at client, design team and internal coordination meetings, presenting technical positions clearly and credibly.
Ensure the electrical installation meets the applicable wiring regulations, national standards, client specifications and Sensori quality and safety requirements.
Promote a culture of safety and technical excellence across the electrical team, including active participation in safety inspections and lessons-learned reviews.
Contribute to the development of Sensori engineering standards, checklists and templates based on project experience.

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
Substantial experience as an electrical engineer with an MEP or electrical contractor, including a proven track record in a senior or lead role on site.
Delivery experience on data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor or other mission-critical projects.
Thorough working knowledge of MV/HV and LV distribution systems, standby generation, UPS, earthing and bonding, containment and cabling, and the associated wiring regulations and standards.
Experience leading the technical submittal, quality assurance and commissioning interface for a major electrical package.
Proficient in reading and interrogating construction drawings, schematics and BIM models; competent with Microsoft Office and common construction document control platforms.
Strong leadership and coaching ability, with experience developing engineers and directing subcontractor teams.
Clear and confident communicator, able to engage with clients, consultants and site teams and to hold a technical position under scrutiny.
Organised and self-directed, with the ability to manage competing priorities on a fast-paced programme.
