Software Designer – High-Tech Semiconductor Equipment (PLC / C++ / C#)
Sioux Technologies · Eindhoven, Netherlands
You apply off-site, with the employer or the job board. I never handle applications.
Full time Bachelor Eindhoven As a Software Designer – High-Tech Semiconductor Equipment (PLC / C++ / C#), you have experience to design and define PLC, machine control software and higher-level system software for next-generation semiconductor equipment
In this role, you contribute to the development of advanced high-tech semiconductor machines, such as next-generation sintering equipment. You operate across the full stack of machine and system control: from PLC-based machine control (TwinCAT / Siemens) to higher-level software components in C++ or C#.
You work in either an environment where software is developed from scratch or with large legacy source code, which is tightly integrated with hardware and electronics, requiring a balanced skillset across machine control and modern software engineering. What excites you as a Software Designer – High-Tech Semiconductor Equipment (PLC / C++ / C#)?
As a Software Designer, you work on technically challenging semiconductor equipment where machine control and higher-level software come together. You translate requirements into robust designs, take ownership of modules or subsystems, and ensure a consistent design from the PLC layer up to system software.
From our office in Eindhoven, at customer locations, and remotely when appropriate, you enjoy working on:
- Designing and implementing machine control software using PLC technologies (TwinCAT 3 / Siemens) and or SECS/GEM.
- Developing higher-level equipment control software components in C++ and C#.
- Translating system requirements into integrated hardware–software solutions and challenging requirements to drive optimal designs.
- Bridging the gap between control engineering and software engineering disciplines.
- Contributing to the development and evolution of both greenfield and legacy architectures for high-tech machines.
- Integrating, testing, and commissioning complex semiconductor equipment.
- Collaborating within Scrum teams and multidisciplinary engineering groups across software, electronics, and mechanics to deliver high-quality solutions.
Sounds good so far? We'd love to tell you more…
This is what you bring to the table
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, combined with 5–10+ years of experience in high-tech machine building and software development.
- Strong expertise in PLC-based machine control (Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 and/or Siemens) and experience with SECS/GEM combined with solid software development experience in C++ or C#.
- Proven experience designing and implementing control software for complex machines and industrial automation systems.
- Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design, software architecture principles, and requirements engineering, with the ability to translate requirements into effective technical designs.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and with modern development tools such as Git and Azure DevOps.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to bridge machine control and software domains, challenge unclear requirements, and take ownership of solutions.
- Collaborative and flexible mindset, with willingness to travel within the Netherlands and occasionally across Europe, and to work in a hybrid on-site/remote environment.
- Nice to have: Python, Java, TwinCAT Safety, or industrial robotics experience (e.g., KUKA). This is what you can expect in return
