What to Expect As a Process Engineer on the Module line in Tilburg, you will implement, develop, and optimize the production processes that build our battery modules. You will own the technical performance of your assigned processes — vision inspection, adhesive dispensing and gluing, potting, profilometry, laser welding, and electrical testing — driving yield, capability, cycle time, and cost through data-driven improvement.
You will optimize product flow through the factory via process design, tool and fixture selection, line layout, material presentation, and ergonomics, applying Lean Manufacturing best practices. You will interface with Design, Equipment, Controls, Test, Quality, and Production to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and drive continuous improvement — both on running lines and on new lines being introduced and ramped in Tilburg.
The ideal candidate has excellent engineering fundamentals with hands-on instincts, a strong bias for data over opinion, and the creative capacity to find better, faster, cheaper ways of doing things.
What You'll Do* Develop deep expertise in module manufacturing processes — laser welding, adhesive dispensing and potting, vision inspection, profilometry, and electrical testing — establishing process windows, parameters, and capability through critical data analysis and in-depth product understanding
- Analyze and optimize production processes to maximize safety, yield, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, capacity, and capability, and champion continuous improvement projects that deliver cost reduction and cycle time gains
- Diagnose issues found during manufacturing and drive corrective action back to source using structured problem-solving techniques (DMAIC, Ishikawa, 5 Whys, 8D), resulting in root cause identification and elimination
- Monitor and reduce process variation using SPC and MSA; participate in the development and maintenance of FMEAs and Control Plans; and analyze, process, and implement Engineering Change Orders
- Develop and modify line layouts including material flow, waste reduction, and ergonomics, and support 5S, Lean activities, material handling improvements, line configuration, and safety procedures
- Build robust data collection, visualization, and analysis tools that enable data-driven operational and financial decisions, integrating factory data systems using software such as SQL, Python, R, JMP, Minitab, Tableau, and Ignition
- Support the introduction, validation, and ramp of new and modified module lines — defining process parameters, running process characterization and DoEs, supporting run-at-rate, and transitioning processes into stable, sustained production
- Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, routings, and rework procedures; direct the activities of process sustaining technicians; and support 24/7 production operations
What You'll Bring* Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Mechatronic, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience developing and improving processes in a high-volume, highly automated manufacturing facility, with a demonstrated track record of yield or OEE improvement
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following, and the motivation to develop in the others: laser welding or another precision joining process, adhesive dispensing, gluing, or potting, vision inspection systems, profilometry or surface metrology, or electrical testing (e.g. HiPot, insulation resistance, continuity, EOL functional test)
- Experience in battery module, pack, or cell manufacturing is strongly preferred; adjacent industries such as EV powertrain, energy storage, automotive, or electronics manufacturing are equally welcome
- Strong working knowledge of Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis, process capability, and Design of Experiments, with practical application in a production environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly, able to resolve high-level performance issues into addressable actions using DMAIC, Ishikawa, 5 Whys, or 8D
- Experience with a broad variety of test, control, and data acquisition equipment and software, and comfort working with production data (SQL, Python, Minitab, JMP, Tableau, or Ignition)
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, ability to work effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams, and willingness to work shifts and weekends as determined by production and project needs
