Your Role: Global Trade Compliance Governance Expert
As a Subject Matter Expert within the Global Trade Compliance team, you will design, implement and maintain a robust governance framework for international trade and customs compliance. You will help ensure that Elanco’s global trade operations align with applicable regulations, import and export controls, and internal compliance standards. Acting as a trusted expert across regions, you will drive consistency, resilience and continuous improvement throughout Elanco’s trade operations.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain and oversee the Global Trade Compliance governance framework, including global policies, Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines.
- Design and execute the global trade compliance audit programme, monitor key performance indicators and compliance metrics, and lead corrective action plans following internal or external audits.
- Conduct trade compliance risk assessments across Elanco’s global operations, monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on the supply chain, product launches and business activities.
- Provide expert guidance on complex trade scenarios, collaborate with regional and cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver training that strengthens a culture of compliance and integrity.
- Lead or support strategic trade compliance projects and digital transformation initiatives, including Global Trade Management system implementations such as SAP Global Trade Services, engage with regulatory authorities when required, and identify continuous improvement and duty-saving opportunities.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
- University degree in International Trade, Law or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs or regulatory governance within a global organisation.
- Deep knowledge of international trade regulations, including customs tariff classification, customs valuation and rules of origin.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex regulations into practical business processes, manage multiple priorities and influence stakeholders through effective communication and negotiation.
- Fluent written and spoken English, with strong presentation and stakeholder leadership skills.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):
- Experience working with Global Trade Management systems, particularly SAP Global Trade Services.
- A track record of supporting trade compliance digital transformation, continuous improvement or duty-saving initiatives.
