About the role
We're looking for an engineer to join our DevOps team as a DevOps/SRE Engineer. The team is fully distributed across Paris, Belgrade, and Taiwan, and you'll be the team's engineer in Barcelona, working on a hybrid basis (three days in-office, two remote) and reporting remotely to the DevOps Manager based in France. You'll join a team of five — four DevOps engineers and the DevOps Manager — who collaborate day to day across locations and time zones. If you enjoy autonomy, this is a role where you'll have real ownership.
We stay closely connected through Agile rituals — daily stand-ups, a weekly meeting, grooming, and retrospectives — plus regular syncs over Google Meet and Slack, so "distributed" never means "on your own."
You'll work in a fully cloud-based environment with real scaling and innovation challenges: a multi-region infrastructure (US / Europe / Asia) handling 50+ billion API calls per day, including petabytes of data in Ogury's Datalake. It's a chance to leave a real mark on a growing company and shape how we work.
What you will be doing
- Design, build, and run Ogury's cloud infrastructure, optimising for high availability of our services. Run duties are concentrated into dedicated time — a compensated 24/7 on-call rotation of one week every five weeks, plus a rotating week handling support cases during business hours. This keeps the rest of your time protected for building, automation, and roadmap work.
- Partner with development teams to help them find the right cloud architecture solutions and support them through deployment.
- Provide the tooling to build and monitor Ogury's products, working with our observability stack: VictoriaMetrics, Thanos, Loki, Datadog, and PagerDuty for alerting.
- Manage several Kubernetes clusters at scale and implement advanced deployment strategies with ArgoCD.
- Automate infrastructure with Terraform and CI, and maintain our multi-account AWS architecture — keeping it secure and maintainable, and provisioning new accounts as needed.
What you'll bring to Ogury
- Strong communication skills — able to explain technical decisions clearly and work effectively across teams and time zones (Paris, Belgrade, Taiwan).
- A collaborative team player who enjoys supporting developers and building good working relationships.
- Comfortable with the autonomy of being our engineer on the ground in Barcelona within a distributed team.
- A strong willingness to learn and grow into our infrastructure stack.
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- A background as a DevOps/SRE Engineer, or as a Software Engineer moving into DevOps (production, CI).
- Infrastructure and public cloud experience, primarily with AWS (GCP or Azure a plus).
- Scripting or programming skills (e.g. Bash, Python, or Go).
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, ideally AWS EKS (plus GitOps/CD tooling such as ArgoCD).
- Infrastructure-as-code / automation with Terraform.
- Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes (via the Strimzi operator) is a plus. How Ogury supports you At Ogury, we believe in taking care of our team members and providing a work environment that supports both professional growth and personal well-being.
