Introduction
As one of three new lecturers in the Department of Marketing Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), you join a dynamic and international department of dedicated educators and academics who engage in high-quality research and teaching. RSM's MSc in Marketing Management programme addresses core topics in the field of marketing. Topics include, for example, marketing strategy, consumer behaviour, market research, brand management, digital marketing, and marketing analytics.
Job description
You are responsible for managing the thesis trajectory within RSM's MSc Marketing Management programme. This involves training, teaching and providing feedback to students, as well as evaluating them on their deliverables, participation and progress throughout the thesis trajectory.
As a lecturer, you are responsible for groups of students, with whom you run recurring ‘clinic’ sessions in which the students present their work and receive feedback from you and from peers. Running parallel to this are plenary sessions on themes such as thesis topic choice, conceptualising the theoretical framework, methods, data analysis and interpretation, and presenting and writing.
You work closely with the Academic Director (AD) of the MSc programme and with other members of the department. As part of your task, you may also work on projects related to teaching innovation and educational research.
RSM offers you developmental support, including teaching qualifications, so that, when you are a suitable candidate, we can help you to further develop into a senior lecturer.

Important: you must have a BKO (Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs – UTQ University Teaching Qualification) certificate or be willing to obtain it as soon as possible.
You should be fluent in English, the main language of RSM. It’s a plus when you have experience in supervising master theses at RSM or in comparable programmes, but it’s not a must.
As an ideal candidate, you are:
- a capable and reliable teacher
- a team player, open to collaboration with faculty members across RSM's courses and programmes
- able to deliver high quality content and constructive feedback
- proactive, conscientious and well organised
- fluent in written and spoken English, and able to teach at an academic level in English
- in possession of your BKO certificate or willing to obtain it.
