Role description Role: FinOps Cloud Engineer
Location: Krakow, Poland(Hybrid, 3 days work from office)
6 Months contract(Sub-contract or B2B contract)
Rate: 185 PLN per hour
Responsibilities:
- Identify quantify and deliver cloud cost optimisation opportunities across Azure AWS and GCP
- Analyse logging observability and storage usage patterns to identify key cost drivers
- Optimise log ingestion routing retention sampling exclusion rules storage tiering and lifecycle policies
- Prioritise optimisation opportunities based on projected savings implementation effort risk and return on investment
- Implement cost optimisation changes using Terraform scripting CICD pipelines and other automation tools
- Build repeatable automation for logging and storage cost optimisation across enterprise multicloud environments
- Analyse cloud logging data directly using native cloud monitoring and analytics tools
- Produce structured optimisation proposals business cases and projected savings forecasts
- Develop rollback plans and perform postimplementation validation for optimisation changes
- Improve tagging labelling cost allocation showback and chargeback processes
- Define and maintain FinOps policies and guardrails covering retention standards quotas budgets and cost s
- Conduct optimisation clinics with platform SRE application security and product teams
- Produce executivelevel reporting covering cost trends forecasts actual savings risks and optimisation progress
- Monitor cloud environments for cost regression and automate drift detection
- Create and maintain runbooks controls technical documentation and operational procedures
- Ensure all optimisation activities comply with governance operational risk security and change management requirements
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Handson experience with at least two public cloud platforms across Azure AWS and GCP
- Strong experience with native cloud logging monitoring storage and cost management services
- Strong understanding of logging and observability architecture including ingestion routing retention and storage cost drivers
- Proven experience analysing largescale logging data and identifying measurable cost reduction opportunities
- Strong Azure knowledge covering Log Analytics Azure Monitor Diagnostic Settings Storage Accounts Event Hub Sentinel Azure Policy and Cost Management
- Knowledge of AWS services such as CloudWatch Logs S3 Lifecycle Management Cost Explorer and Cost and Usage Reports
- Knowledge of GCP services such as Cloud Logging Log Router Log Sinks BigQuery Cloud Storage Lifecycle Policies and Billing Exports
- Strong automation experience using Terraform Python andor Bash
- Experience implementing repeatable deployment patterns through GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Practical knowledge of FinOps principles cost allocation showback chargeback optimisation levers and cost governance
- Experience implementing cloud governance standards policies and automated guardrails
- Experience producing savings forecasts business cases and structured optimisation proposals
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to present technical findings and financial recommendations to senior engineering stakeholders
- Experience working within compliance operational risk and change control frameworks
- Cloud platform certifications and FinOps Foundation certifications are desirable
- Experience working in financial institutions or regulated enterprise environments is advantageous
