About the job
As Agriculture Investment Officer you will be contributing to the growth and quality of the agriculture investment portfolio. The role focuses on developing new agriculture markets, originating and managing impact-at-scale investments, strengthening portfolio performance, and supporting strategic partnerships and blended finance initiatives.
You will act as a sector-focused relationship and business development specialist, translating agriculture market developments, partner needs, and funding opportunities into investable propositions. The role requires close collaboration with regional teams, funders, and external partners to create a pipeline of impactful agriculture investments aligned with Oikocredit’s social impact, risk, and financial return objectives.
Main responsibilities
Portfolio Management
You will build, maintain and monitor a portfolio of impactful investments in one or more countries in the region and has a specialization in agriculture. You will focus on commercial activities, are knowledgeable on SPM, ESG and on more complex investments. The overall objective is to build a well-performing, impactful portfolio in line with the agriculture strategy.
In addition to own portfolio, you will prepare and present global portfolio monitoring information, management information and portfolio insights that can be used by management, investors, and fundraising teams. This includes translating portfolio data into clear analysis on performance, pipeline, impact, risks, and growth opportunities to support decision-making, investor reporting, and fundraising discussions.
Social Impact and Capacity Building
As Investment Officer, you identify the needs and opportunities in global agriculture portfolio and delivers specific social benefits or outcomes primarily to Oikocredit’s target group of low-income households and communities. As Investment Officer you also well positioned to identify needs and opportunities for Capacity Building and is responsible for creating CB proposals in collaboration with CB specialists/ coordinator.
Market Development and Representation
You are responsible for understanding agriculture market development and acting upon them; maintaining market intelligence, sourcing new agriculture investment opportunities, and represent Oikocredit at conferences and events; identifying potential new partners. The role requires proactive engagement with strategic partners such as development organisations, foundations, and agriculture sector platforms to create opportunities for portfolio expansion. and collaboration.
Deal Execution and Monitoring
Supporting the closing of deals and disbursement; deal monitoring and reporting; monitoring Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP); monitoring and supporting capacity building projects; and collaborates with the End Client Survey team when appropriate, being an extension of teams such as Compliance or the Special Collections Unit.
Risk and Compliance
Responsible and accountable for KYC, due diligence and deal quality including impact and risk assessment.
Strategic Partnerships, Fundraising and Blended Finance
You will support fundraising, strategic partnerships, and blended finance, including collaboration with partners, other lenders, foundations and other institutional investors. The role requires the ability to translate funding opportunities into practical agriculture investment pipelines, contribute to due diligence processes, and support the design and implementation of blended finance initiatives.
Education, skills and experience
- Advanced university degree in the field of finance and banking, business, economics or agricultural economics or economic development.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in agriculture finance, banking, impact investing, development finance.
- Advanced knowledge of inclusive finance or agriculture finance.
- Ability to support regional investment officers and regional investment teams with agriculture sector expertise, portfolio reviews, investment analysis, and performance improvement actions.
- Proven ability to originate transactions, assess investment opportunities, conduct financial and risk analysis, and prepare investment proposals for approval.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience supporting fundraising, donor or funder engagement, strategic partnerships, and blended finance initiatives is desirable.
- Fluency in English, Spanish would be a plus.
- Extensive user skills of Microsoft Excel and computer literacy in general.

- We offer a salary ranging from €60,000 to €74,000 gross annually, depending on experience, based on a 40-hour work week. The package includes holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus, with additional opportunities for salary progression as you grow in the role.
Additional remarks
Willingness to travel within country/internationally up to 15-20% of the time.

The role is open for 90% (36 hours per week).
