This is how you will reinvent food retail.

- You align technical decisions across the team and ensure adherence to architectural and security guidelines.
- You monitor platform performance, incident trends, delivery metrics, and financial spend to continuously improve team effectiveness, efficiency, and service stability.
- You manage capacity, hiring, and skill development to sustain strong delivery capabilities over time.
- You work closely with architecture, product, and security leaders to evolve the data management landscape and ensure it remains robust and future-proof.
Your new team and office.
As Engineering Manager, you will join the Data Differentiation Platform (DDP) department, responsible for the Cloud, Database Platform, and Middleware & Scheduling services that support Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall. You will lead two engineering teams (around 30 DevSecOps Engineers) who develop and operate our database platform—the foundation for innovation across all our brands.
Our platform, built primarily on Azure and OCI, provides secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure, enabling teams to build and run applications efficiently. We maintain a strong focus on FinOps practices to ensure cost efficiency. Your primary focus is to deliver high-quality, secure, and reliable database and scheduling capabilities, ensuring teams deliver predictably and continuously improve.
The main technologies in scope are Oracle, MS SQL, MongoDB, and Control-M, running in both Azure and Oracle Cloud environments.
At Albert Heijn, you’ll work with inspiring peers in data, digital, and tech—a diverse community with a shared goal: making (online) shopping simpler and more inspiring. We invest heavily in technology and your career. Our teams work hybrid: from home and at our office next to Zaandam train station.
We value a high-belonging team where everyone feels safe, accepted, and appreciated. We especially welcome candidates who bring new perspectives and diversity to our team. Don’t check all the boxes? Neither do we . If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to see your application!
