THE WORK:
Join Accenture Strategy's Global Network, M&A and Private Equity Consulting team, a high-impact practice helping leading Private Equity (PE) investors and corporate clients shape, evaluate, and execute complex transactions. We work across the full deal lifecycle – from target screening and due diligence through Day 1 readiness, merger integration, separation / carve-out, and portfolio value creation – combining strategy, functional expertise, and technology insight to turn deal rationale into executable outcomes.
You will work directly with clients across Europe in fast-moving, cross-border deal environments, partnering with business, functional, and technology leaders to solve complex transaction challenges and deliver measurable impact.
What you'll do:
- Lead workstreams across M&A and PE engagements spanning pre-deal diligence, deal execution, Day 1 readiness, post-merger integration, separation / carve-out, and value creation
- Translate ambiguous deal challenges into structured workplans, clear deliverables, actionable insights, and client-ready recommendations, balancing strategic objectives with practical execution requirements
- Support or lead target screening, due diligence (Commercial Due Diligence, Operational Due Diligence and Tech / IT / Cybersecurity Due Diligence), synergy and value creation assessment
- Plan and execute Day 1 readiness, integration and separation programmes across business functions and technology, defining critical activities, decision points, dependencies, governance, and transition priorities
- Drive or support Integration / Separation Management Office (IMO / SMO) governance, including workstream coordination, RAID management, steering committee cadences, cross-functional dependency tracking, decision management, and executive reporting
- Functional M&A: support or lead functional Integration / Separation planning and execution across Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, HR workstreams, and redesign operating models
- Tech / IT M&A: shape IT integration / separation strategy and execution across applications, infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, cloud / ERP platforms, IT operating model, technology costs, and IT integration / separation roadmaps
- Scope and manage Transitional Service Agreements (TSAs) and related exit plans, connecting service continuity requirements with target operating model, technology migration, cost, and timing considerations
- Support PE portfolio value creation planning and corporate transformation agendas by translating the deal thesis into 100-day priorities, synergy initiatives, EBITDA improvement levers, and executable transformation roadmaps
- Contribute to business development: support proposals, client orals, and the development of M&A thought leadership and reusable assets / tools
PRIORITY SKILL:
M&A strategy and execution experience in consulting, transaction advisory, Private Equity, or a comparable deal environment, with hands-on exposure to at least one of three areas: Tech / IT M&A, Functional M&A, or broader end-to-end M&A deal lifecycle. Experience beyond pre-deal phases – such as Day 1 readiness, merger integration, separation / carve-out, or value creation planning and execution – is strongly preferred.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- 6+ years of experience in Functional M&A or Tech/IT M&A, with demonstrated leadership and responsibility for shaping and delivering complex due diligence, integration, separation/carve-out, or portfolio value creation engagements.
- Proven post-deal delivery experience, including leading workstreams or programmes through Day 1 readiness, integration, separation, TSA transition, or portfolio value realization
- Proven IMO/ SMO governance capabilities: workstream coordination, RAID management, steering committee cadences, cross-functional dependency tracking, decision management, and executive reporting
- Deep functional expertise in at least one area: Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, HR, IT or Commercial with a solid understanding of how transactions affect processes, organization, costs, and controls of these functions and target operating models
- Deep industry knowledge in one or more priority sectors: Communication, Media, and Technology, Financial Services, Resources, Healthcare / Life Sciences, Consumer Goods & Services, or Retail
- Proven experience managing senior client stakeholders, engagement teams, governance forums, and executive-level deliverables
- Strong commercial acumen, structured problem-solving, deal judgment, and ability to translate complex analysis into board-level recommendations
- Ability to lead in fast-paced, ambiguous, deadline-driven deal environments while coaching junior team members and managing quality
- Experience contributing to business development, proposals, client orals, account shaping, thought leadership, or pipeline conversion in an M&A and Private Equity context
- Strong verbal and written communication in English. German, French and other European languages are highly valued
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:* Experience across both buy-side and sell-side transactions and multiple phases of the deal lifecycle
- Cross-domain M&A experience spanning both business / functional and Tech / IT topics, or a track record of successfully coordinating these domains within a single transaction
- Experience with Tech / IT M&A topics such as Tech / IT, Cybersecurity and Platform Due Diligence, IT integration / separation planning and execution across applications, infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, and core technology platforms
- Experience working with Private Equity firms and PE-backed businesses: deal teams, operating partners or portfolio companies on value creation, synergy realization, or transformation programmes
- Exposure to AI-led transformation, analytics, automation, or digital enablement in a transaction or portfolio value creation context
- International project experience, particularly across European and cross-border transactions, working across multi-geography, cross-functional teams and with global delivery / offshore networks
