About the role**.**
As the EMENA & GB&I Business Controller, Supply Chain, you will partner with our Logistics and Supply Chain teams to control, analyze and optimize logistics & distribution costs across our operations. You will be responsible for providing financial insight, ensuring cost transparency, challenging assumptions, and supporting strategic decisions across transportation, warehousing, distribution centers, and 3PL providers.
What you’ll be doing.
- Financial Controlling & Reporting: Own the P&L for logistics and distribution costs (transportation, warehousing, handling, customs, returns, 3PL, etc.). Prepare monthly closing, accruals, provisions and reclassifications related to supply chain costs in line with group accounting policies. Develop and maintain standard cost models for freight, warehousing, and distribution activities. Ensure data integrity between operational systems and financial reporting tools.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for logistics & distribution costs (annual budget, revisions, rolling forecasts). Track performance vs. budget/forecast, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions. Support capacity planning and scenario analysis (e.g. volume growth, network changes, new DCs, contract changes).
- Business Partnering with Supply Chain & Logistics: Act as the finance business partner for Logistics, Distribution, and Supply Chain operations. Challenge and support logistics strategy decisions (mode of transport, network design, inventory flows, insourcing vs. outsourcing). Provide financial analyses to support tenders, contract renewals, and 3PL negotiations, including rate comparisons and savings tracking. Participate in cross-functional projects (network optimization, automation, sustainability initiatives) and quantify financial impact.
- Cost Optimization & Process Improvement: Identify and drive cost-saving and efficiency initiatives in transportation, warehousing and last-mile delivery. Set up and monitor KPIs and dashboards (cost per unit, cost per pallet, cost per shipment, cost-to-serve by channel/customer, OTIF, etc.). Implement standardized reporting and controlling processes across countries/regions. Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and tools to improve transparency, granularity and timeliness of cost data.
- Governance, Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with group accounting policies, and internal control standards for supply chain-related expenditures. Support internal and external audits related to logistics and distribution costs. Help define and maintain approval workflows, spending limits, and contract controls within supply chain.
What you’ll need to be successful.
- Master or Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Controlling, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management (or equivalent), engineering, math, or related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in controlling, ideally with specific experience in supply chain, logistics, industrial operations in an international environment, other related field (e.g., professional services)
- Previous experience in a multinational company and working with multiple entities/countries is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of management accounting and cost controlling (standard costing, variance analysis, allocation methods).
- Advanced user of Excel and financial modeling; experience with BI/analytics tools (Power BI) preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and ideally with TMS/WMS environments.
- Comfort working with large data sets and translating them into clear insights and recommendations.
- Strong business partnering skills with the ability to challenge and influence non-financial stakeholders.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and problem-solving mindset, with a focus on action and results.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present complex topics in a clear and concise way.
