Captain Couple 25m SY

An experienced sailing family is seeking an established Captain/Couple to join their new-build Oyster 885, launching in April 2027.

The owners are lifelong sailors who previously owned an Oyster 675 and completed part of the Oyster World Rally. The captain will ideally join in January 2027 for the final three months of commissioning, with the second member of the couple joining approximately one month before launch.

The yacht’s first summer will include Sweden, the UK and Mallorca, followed by warranty work and a Caribbean crossing in December. The owners then plan to join the Oyster World Rally for approximately 15–16 months, with possible future cruising along the US East Coast and Greenland before returning to the Mediterranean.

This will initially be a private, informal and family-orientated programme. The owners are open to a Captain/Mate, Captain/Chef or another couple offering a strong combination of skills. The yacht can accommodate up to four crew, with the final structure built around the appointed couple.

The captain must have previous command experience aboard a similar-sized sailing yacht, with strong sailing, technical and maintenance knowledge. Long-distance cruising and ocean-passage experience are essential. Engineering ability within the couple would be particularly valuable.

For a Captain/Chef combination, the owners enjoy fresh, healthy Mediterranean food. Excellent provisioning, storage and stock-management skills for long passages are important.

The owners would prefer a couple keen to complete the circumnavigation. A strict 2:2 rotation is unlikely initially, but a generous and flexible leave package of approximately two to three months may be considered.

They will run with a total of 4 crew.
