About A Thinking Ape
We are a mobile gaming studio with a portfolio of long-running live titles and a growing back catalogue operated alongside our sister studio, DECA Games. We are building a growth function that runs efficiently across a multi-title portfolio, with a focus on getting more value from titles that have historically had less dedicated attention.
About the Role
The Portfolio Growth Manager is a new individual contributor role that brings dedicated, full-stack growth coverage to our back catalogue across the ATA and DECA portfolios. This is an operator position with no people management: one person running ad monetization, product marketing, and light-touch paid activity across a set of titles that individually do not justify dedicated specialists but together represent real portfolio value.
Success looks like keeping an entire back catalogue healthy, predictable, and growing, while using AI and automation to do the work of a much larger team.
What You Will Do
Ad Monetization
- Own AdMon hands-on across all DECA games, not only the back catalogue.
- Review waterfall and bidder configurations and keep mediation platforms clean and current.
- Manage ad network onboarding and offboarding, and coordinate SDK maintenance with studio technical leads.
- Own reporting and reconciliation tied to monetization performance, and support the shift toward programmatic bidding.
Product Marketing and Store Presence
- Own end-to-end store presence and product marketing for a defined set of back-catalogue titles across both studios.
- Plan and ship Custom Store Listings and Custom Product Pages tied to seasonal moments, in-game events, and live-ops beats.
- Run metadata optimization and store hygiene on the App Store and Google Play, and ship incremental conversion wins without needing senior sign-off on each decision.
- Partner with product teams so store messaging stays aligned with each title's live roadmap
Paid Marketing
- Keep existing paid campaigns healthy across SDK networks, social, and search.
- Run occasional small-scale tests when the opportunity is there, such as a creative test on Meta or a modest Apple Search Ads campaign. Spend is limited; the focus is efficiency, not scaling budgets.
AI and Automation
- Build and maintain automations that cut manual overhead across reporting, MMP data handling, creative briefs, and store listing management.
- Consolidate scattered automation into shared, productized workflows, and keep finding new ways to remove manual work rather than absorb it.
- Over time, become the internal reference point for how the growth function applies AI to run a large portfolio lean.
Cross-Studio Communication and Reporting
- Maintain consistent reporting cadences across both studios and standardize the data and narrative that flow up to leadership.
- Unblock routine requests that currently need senior intervention, and keep a wide set of stakeholders informed proactively.
Requirements:
- 3+ years in mobile gaming, with experience working inside a mobile game studio (mandatory).
- At least 2 of those years in a mobile marketing function: ad monetization, product marketing, ASO, or UA.
- You have personally built systems or tools using AI and used them in a real workflow.
- Exceptional cross-team communication, curiosity about what other teams are working on, and the discipline to keep people informed proactively.
What Sets You Apart:
- Direct experience with ad monetization stacks such as AppLovin MAX, LevelPlay, or Google AdMob is preferred. Meaningful exposure with a clear path to full ownership will also be considered.
- Experience with App Store and Google Play optimization, including Custom Store Listings and Custom Product Pages, is preferred.
- Working knowledge of attribution platforms including AppsFlyer, Adjust, or Singular.
- Strong comfort with structured data handling and advanced Excel; scripting, API integration, or low code experience is a significant plus.
Who Will Thrive in this Role
- Someone deeply curious, with strong project management instincts, who can keep many moving parts organized without being asked.
- Someone who enjoys fixing broken things and is constantly looking for ways to optimize their own time rather than absorb more manual work.
- Someone comfortable operating across disciplines rather than defending one, and who treats a gap in their own coverage as something to close rather than hand off.
- Someone who understands AI development at a real working level, not just as a user of chat interfaces, and who can translate that understanding into systems that make a small team operate like a much larger one.
First 90 Days
By the end of the first ninety days, this person will have:
- Established hands on ownership of AdMon operations across all DECA games, including a first pass of waterfall and mediation hygiene.
- Taken independent ownership of the product marketing and store presence stack for the assigned back catalogue titles.
- Set up a consistent cross studio reporting rhythm trusted by stakeholders in both studios.
- Delivered at least one meaningful AI powered automation that measurably reduces ongoing manual workload.
