We are looking for a Space Systems & IV&V Engineer to support the development, integration, verification and validation of systems and ground segments for Copernicus Earth observation missions.
The engineer will work across System, Ground Segment and Ground Segment Element levels, supporting activities from requirements definition and preliminary design through integration, acceptance testing, verification and preparation for operations. Requirements
- University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Physics or a related technical discipline, together with relevant experience in space systems engineering, ground segment engineering and/or IV&V.
- Systems Engineering and IV&V for Earth observation or other space missions.
- Ground segment integration and end-to-end verification.
- Mission data processing systems and processing chains.
- Requirements engineering and traceability using tools such as DOORS.
- Formal testing, including FAT, OSAT, TRR and TRB activities.
- Verification Control Documents and formal verification control processes.
- Interface definition and Interface Control Documents.
- Test data, simulators and test tools.
- Linux-based environments and basic scripting, particularly Python and Bash.
- Automated testing and CI/CD environments such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins or Docker.
- MBSE, SysML and modelling tools such as Enterprise Architect.
- Configuration-controlled operational or pre-operational environments.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of ECSS, CCSDS, CFDP, spacecraft/ground segment operations, mission control systems, or mission product processing is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the definition, consolidation and maintenance of system and ground segment requirements, including allocation and traceability.
- Support system architecture, functional analysis, interface definition, technical budgets and engineering baseline documentation.
- Prepare and maintain IV&V documentation, including test specifications, test procedures, test plans and verification control documentation.
- Prepare test environments, test tools, simulators and test data required for integration and verification campaigns.
- Execute integration and verification tests, analyse results, record evidence, raise anomalies and prepare test reports.
- Support formal test and verification milestones, including Test Readiness Reviews, Test Review Boards and Verification Control Boards.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, verification methods, test cases, procedures, results, anomalies and verification evidence.
- Support software and system deployment, configuration management and verification of new releases, patches and configurations.
- Contribute to anomaly investigation, change implementation and related technical review boards.
- Support the integration of mission data processing, dissemination, archiving, mission control and other ground segment functions.
- Contribute to engineering models and MBSE activities, including requirements, functional, architectural and interface modelling.
- Review requirements, design, interface and IV&V documentation produced by suppliers and partner organisations.
- Participate in project reviews, engineering coordination meetings and technical interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Produce clear, accurate and configuration-controlled technical documentation.
