Food Folk Nordic Development
Food Folk Nordic Development is looking for an Architectural Technologist & Project Coordinator to join our growing Nordic Development team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the world's most recognized brands, supporting restaurant development, remodeling projects, operational improvements, and sustainability initiatives across the Nordic region.
About the Role
This is not a traditional architecture role focused on iconic buildings or conceptual design.
Instead, you will play a key role in helping us continuously improve and develop our restaurant portfolio by creating technical drawings, optimizing layouts, coordinating projects, and supporting the implementation of practical solutions that improve restaurant operations.
Success in this role is about understanding how restaurants function and translating operational requirements into efficient, buildable, and cost-effective solutions.
You will work closely with Development Managers, Construction Managers, Operations teams, Franchisees, Consultants, and Suppliers across the Nordic markets.
The role combines technical drawing, restaurant development, and project coordination, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both technical work and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
Architectural & Technical Design
- Prepare and maintain technical drawings for new and existing restaurants using ArchiCAD.
- Develop layout proposals for remodels, conversions, and operational improvement projects.
- Translate operational requirements into optimal spatial and functional solutions.
- Evaluate and improve existing layouts to support operational efficiency, customer flow, and restaurant performance.
- Support feasibility studies and preliminary site planning.
- Ensure compliance with McDonald's standards and local requirements.
- Coordinate drawing packages with external consultants, architects, and contractors.
Restaurant Development & Optimization
- Partner with Operations and Development teams to identify opportunities for improving restaurant layouts and functionality.
- Solve complex planning and space utilization challenges within existing buildings.
- Support restaurant modernization and reinvestment projects.
- Balance operational, technical, financial, and construction-related requirements to achieve the best overall solution.
Project Coordination & Sustainability Initiatives
- Coordinate development and improvement projects across the Nordic markets.
- Support sustainability, energy, and equipment-related initiatives.
- Coordinate suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Obtain and compare quotations and support commercial negotiations.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Drive projects from concept through implementation and follow-up.
Qualifications
Required
- Degree in Architectural Technology, Building Design, Architecture, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong proficiency in ArchiCAD.
- Experience producing technical drawings and documentation packages.
- Strong coordination and organizational skills.
- Practical problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred
- Experience from restaurant, retail, hospitality, or commercial development projects.
- Experience working with renovations, remodels, and existing buildings.
- Understanding of sustainability and energy improvement initiatives.
- Experience coordinating consultants, suppliers, and contractors.
- Previous experience with McDonald's restaurant development is considered a strong advantage.
Who You Are
You are a practical and solution-oriented professional who enjoys finding the optimal solution within real-world constraints.
You understand that successful development projects require balancing operational needs, customer experience, technical requirements, timelines, and costs.
You enjoy working at the intersection of design, operations, and project coordination, and you thrive when collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver results.
Most importantly, you are motivated by improving how restaurants function rather than creating architectural statements.
What We Offer
- A unique opportunity to work with one of the world's most recognized brands.
- A broad and varied role combining technical design, restaurant development, and project coordination.
- International collaboration across the Nordic region.
- Professional development and career growth opportunities.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- A dynamic and collaborative work environment.
