About the role
The Non-Financial Risks & Risk Governance team is seeking a graduate in Lisbon to support the management of non-financial risks across the group, with a particular focus on technology-related risks. This role offers the opportunity to build a career at the intersection of technology, business controls, cybersecurity, risk management and regulatory compliance. You will work with IT, Information Security and business stakeholders to help align systems, processes and policies with internal standards and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Head of Non-Financial Risks & Risk Governance, you will collaborate with colleagues across the first and second lines of defense and multiple locations. You will join a supportive team of risk professionals committed to learning, collaboration and excellence.
You will apply strong analytical thinking and attention to detail to understand how technology risks can affect business operations. You should be comfortable working with documentation, spreadsheets and reporting tools and communicating clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues. You will help identify risk and control gaps, assess their potential impact, escalate concerns appropriately and follow up on remediation actions through to timely resolution. You may also contribute to awareness initiatives, process improvements, dashboards and reports for management review. Although this is primarily a risk management and governance role, a sound understanding of technology, information security and cybersecurity concepts is important.
This graduate role offers practical experience across non-financial risk, with a particular focus on IT risk management, in a structured and collaborative environment. You will build a strong foundation by contributing to risk assessments, governance, regulatory deliverables and management reporting while learning from experienced colleagues across the organisation.

What you'll do
- Assist with operational risk assessments, scenario analysis and other risk analyses, with a particular focus on AI, IT, information security and cyber risk, while also supporting operational resilience, fraud and sustainability risk topics.
- Support the identification, assessment and ongoing monitoring of operational and technology-related risks across the business.
- Investigate operational risk events and near misses, conduct root-cause analysis and support remediation by tracking mitigation measures and action plans through to completion.
- Support the assessment and monitoring of IT and cybersecurity-related risks and controls.
- Assist in the preparation and updating of presentations, policies, procedures and reporting materials within the Non-Financial Risks & Risk Governance team.
- Support the delivery of risk training programmes through the internal learning platform and monitor completion rates.
- Assist in preparing operational risk reporting for the Board and senior management.
- Support regulatory submissions and supervisory interactions involving FINMA and relevant EU regulators.
- Support the definition, maintenance and updating of key risk indicators and key performance indicators.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, risk awareness activities and the development of dashboards and management reports.
What you'll need
- Master degree in information security, IT, Cybersecurity, Business, Finance, Business Analytics or a related field.
- Basic understanding of IT risk, information security, cybersecurity and risk governance concepts and familiarity with broader non-financial risk topics is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and effectively, both in writing and in presentations.
- Ability to think critically, challenge constructively and ask the right questions.
- A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in building a career in risk management.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
- Full professional proficiency in English. Fluency in Portuguese or German is considered a plus.
Nice to have
- Previous internship experience in non-financial risk, operational risk, IT risk, information security or cybersecurity, particularly within a financial institution or consultancy, would be a plus.
- Basic data analysis or coding skills, particularly in SQL or Python.
