Who We Are

Founded in 2016, Market Pay is a fast-growing French fintech specializing in omnichannel and international payment solutions.

Our mission is to help retailers and e-merchants grow by reinventing the payment experience across in-store, online, mobile, and fully digital channels.

Built on deep expertise in the European retail ecosystem, we deliver innovative solutions covering the entire payment value chain from acceptance and acquiring to prepaid, gift, and payment card programs powered by an industrial-grade platform that enables seamless and secure payment experiences.

Following several successful international acquisitions, Market Pay now brings together more than 350 talented professionals across Europe, all driven by the same ambition: shaping the future of payments.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Head of Sales to lead and accelerate our European SMB e-commerce business.

This is a player-coach role, not one for someone who prefers managing from behind dashboards.

You'll lead an international commercial organization consisting of:

  • 5 Account Executives
  • 10 Sales Development Representatives
  • 1 Customer Success Manager

while remaining actively involved in prospecting, customer meetings, negotiations, and closing strategic opportunities yourself.

You'll own the commercial success of our Online SMB segment across Europe, including a portfolio of more than 600 existing merchants.

What You'll Do

Drive Revenue

  • Personally prospect and win new SMB merchants across Europe.
  • Lead strategic customer meetings, negotiations, and contract closures.
  • Support your team throughout complex sales cycles.
  • Build long-term relationships with merchants, partners, and e-commerce platforms.

Lead & Develop the Team

  • Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing international sales team.
  • Create a culture of accountability, ownership, and execution.
  • Run disciplined pipeline reviews and performance management.
  • Recruit and onboard new commercial talent as the organization grows.

Own Commercial Performance

You'll be accountable for the overall commercial success of the SMB business through two primary KPIs:

  • Annual Net Sales generated from newly signed contracts
  • Realized Net Sales Growth generated from activated merchants

Working closely with Customer Success, you'll ensure merchants are successfully onboarded, activated, retained, and expanded.

You'll also:

  • Deliver accurate sales forecasting
  • Monitor pipeline health and conversion metrics
  • Report business performance to executive leadership
  • Identify opportunities to expand into new European markets

Shape Our Go-to-Market Strategy

  • Continuously refine our SMB sales playbook.
  • Optimize ICP definition, segmentation, outbound strategy, pricing, and sales motions.
  • Share customer and competitive insights with Product and Marketing teams to influence future offerings.

About You

You combine strategic thinking with a genuine passion for selling.

You enjoy building teams but are equally comfortable leading customer conversations and winning business yourself.

We're looking for someone with:

  • 7+ years of B2B sales experience
  • At least 3 years leading commercial teams
  • Experience in Payments, FinTech, SaaS or E-commerce
  • A proven personal track record of consistently exceeding sales targets
  • Strong experience selling to SMB merchants through high-volume, short sales cycles
  • Experience managing distributed international teams
  • Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, negotiations, and payment economics (volumes, take rates, margins, churn)
  • Excellent analytical skills and a data-driven approach to forecasting and pipeline management
  • Fluent English (additional European languages such as Danish, German, French or Dutch are a plus)
  • Based in (or willing to relocate to) Copenhagen
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Europe

What Success Looks Like

During your first year

  • Achieve the annual new business target, with a significant contribution from opportunities you personally originated or closed.
  • Build a healthy, predictable pipeline capable of sustaining future growth.
  • Successfully integrate and develop your commercial team.

Long-term

  • Deliver sustainable realized revenue growth through strong merchant activation and expansion.
  • Maintain high sales productivity with every Account Executive consistently performing at or above quota.
  • Establish a scalable, repeatable sales engine across Europe.
