About Saga Egmont

Position Overview
We are looking for a full-time Editor to take our Spanish-language catalogue (primarily audiobooks, but also ebooks and potentially print) to the next level. You will be involved in most aspects of the publishing work: acquiring rights, bringing them through (audio) production, and making sure they find their listeners and readers across the world.
You will report to the Editor-in-Chief of the Spanish-language market.
Primary Tasks
- Acquisition and rights. Identify and acquire (audio) rights from external rightsholders such as agencies, publishing houses, and self-publishing authors. Research the availability of translation rights, build business cases, and propose advances and royalty terms. Renegotiate expiring contracts
- Catalogue and programme development. Monitor the performance of the existing catalogue and use sales data to shape what we publish next (e.g. new authorships, classics, compilations, and relaunches)
- Title and metadata management. Register titles and move them through the publishing workflow in our in-house systems, make sure every title has strong, commercially sharp metadata and collaborate with the Production Coordinator on covers
- Audiobook production. Run audiobook production together with our recording studios: help select narrators, commission recordings, resolve day-to-day narration issues, maintain an overview of narrators, studios and rates, and handle studio invoicing
- Marketing and retail partnerships. Build and maintain relationships with retailers' content managers, pitch price promotions and campaign themes, present the upcoming programme to secure visibility for our titles.
- Team and representation. Represent the Spanish market in editorial and team meetings, contribute actively to decision-making, and represent Saga Egmont at internal presentations, external meetings, and book fairs
The Ideal Candidate
We imagine that you:
- have a relevant university degree (humanities, social sciences, business studies, or similar)
- have at least 2 years of professional experience in Spanish-language publishing
- are passionate and knowledgeable about the Spanish-language book industry, in either/both Spain or/and Latin America
- have experience negotiating rights deals at high volume
- have solid knowledge of Spanish and international literature and pop culture (films, TV series, podcasts, etc.)
- adapt quickly to complex IT systems, and are equally happy with strategic work and with hands-on tasks such as registering titles in our systems
- are a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English
- live in, or are willing to relocate to, Copenhagen
Experience from the audiobook sector is a strong advantage
What We Offer

- Experience with innovative publishing and book-selling methods
- Flexible working hours
