Amentum is seeking a Photographer to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Photographer supports military installation operations by capturing quality photographs for operational, administrative, training, public affairs, historical documentation, and mission support requirements. This position photographs personnel, official ceremonies, training exercised, equipment, facilities, and special events while ensuring all imagery meets military standards, security requirements, and contract specifications. The photographer is responsible for producing professional visual content, managing digital assets, maintaining photography equipment, and delivering images that support organizational communication and documentation objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Capture high quality photography supporting military operations, training activities, public affairs initiatives, official events, and historical documentation efforts.
- Photograph personnel, leadership, engagements, ceremonies, exercise, equipment, facilities, mission activities, and special events while maintaining professionalism.
- Coordfinate with military personnel, leadership, project teams, and customers to understand photography requirements and deliver appropriate visual products.
- Operate professional photography equipment, including digital cameras, lenses, lighting systems, and related accessories.
- Plan and execute photo assignments by assessing locations, lighting conditions, composition, timing, and operational requirements.
- Ensure all photography activities comply with applicable security protocols, operational restrictions, privacy requirements, and installation policies.
- Review, select, edit, and enhance digital images using professional photo editing software while maintaining image quality and accuracy.
- Perform digital asset management, including file organization, image labeling, metadata management, storage, and archival processes.
- Maintain accurate records of completed assignments, delivered products, and image archive.
- Maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot photography equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Identify equipment needs and report maintenance issues or deficiencies.
- Prepare and deliver professional photo products in accordance with customer requirements and established timelines.
- Support public affairs and communication efforts through the creation of engaging visual content.
- Maintain awareness of changing mission requirements, scheduled, and operational priorities.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a professional photographer supporting commercial, government, military, or organizational photography requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience using professional digital photography equipment and editing software.
- Strong understanding of photographic principles, including composition, lighting, exposure, and image processing.
- Ability to produce high-quality imagery in a variety of environments, including indoor, outdoor, and operational settings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, leadership, and team members.
- Proficiency with computer systems, digital file management, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team to accomplish maintenance tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and proper handling of equipment and materials.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience supporting a Department of Defense organization, military installation, or government contract.
- A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle.
- Experience working in public affairs, visual information, or military documentation environment.
- Experience photographing military operations, ceremonies, training exercises, and official events.
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in photography, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouses, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
