The Role;
We are expanding our Corporate Accounting team and are seeking a Senior Accountant to support both our Spain entity and selected US accounting responsibilities. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong accounting controls, and supporting a timely month-end close process.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the company as we implement Workday Financials as our new ERP system. The ideal candidate will help identify opportunities to automate accounting processes, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the control environment. This role requires a continuous improvement mindset and an interest in leveraging technology to support a scalable accounting organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the monthly accounting close for the Spain entity and assigned US general ledger accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Perform monthly balance sheet and P&L flux analysis, investigating and explaining material variances.
- Manage Spain payroll accounting, including payroll journal entries, accruals, benefits, taxes, and reconciliation of payroll-related balance sheet accounts.
- Partner with Payroll, People Operations, FP&A, Tax, and external accounting providers to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support the implementation of Workday Financials through testing, process design, data validation, user acceptance testing, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes, streamline workflows, and enhance internal controls.
- Recommend and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, standardization, and scalability across the accounting function.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests.
- Assist with special projects and other corporate accounting initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a multinational organization.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience performing month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Experience preparing balance sheet and P&L flux analysis, including investigating and explaining material variances.
- Experience accounting for payroll, preferably for Spain or other European countries.
- Experience with foreign currency accounting and intercompany transactions.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Workday Financials is preferred.
- Experience supporting multinational entities across Europe and the United States is preferred.
- Experience with Spain statutory accounting and local compliance requirements is preferred.
- CPA, ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification is a plus.
Compensation Range: €65K - €75K
