Are you passionate about languages, media, and storytelling? We are looking for a Subtitle Editor & Translator with Spanish to join our growing team and help deliver high-quality subtitle translations for international audiences.
In this role, you will adapt English-language audiovisual content into Spanish while maintaining linguistic accuracy, cultural authenticity, and an engaging viewing experience. You will work on television series, films, documentaries, and streaming content viewed by audiences around the world.
Responsibilities
- Translate and localize English subtitles into Spanish while preserving the original meaning, tone, humor, and cultural context.
- Adapt dialogue to ensure natural and audience-friendly language usage.
- Edit and synchronize subtitles according to timing, readability, and audiovisual localization standards.
- Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, grammar, spelling, and formatting compliance.
- Use subtitle-editing and localization tools, including AI-assisted translation platforms.
- Collaborate with project managers, editors, and quality assurance teams to deliver high-quality media content.
- Manage multiple localization projects and meet established deadlines.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with client-specific and platform-specific language and technical requirements.
What we're looking for:
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish (C1 or higher), with strong knowledge of regional language variations and cultural references.
- Advanced English proficiency (C1) with excellent comprehension of spoken and written content.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Interest in film, television, streaming platforms, and digital media.
Nice to have
- Degree in Translation, Linguistics, Philology, Communications, or a related field.
- Previous experience in subtitle translation, localization, transcreation, or audiovisual content adaptation could be an asset, but not required.
- Familiarity with localization technologies and AI-assisted translation solutions (e.g., Phrase or similar CAT tools).
- Experience working with streaming services, media companies, or content localization vendors.
- Knowledge of subtitle accessibility standards and best practices for audiovisual localization.
