Technica Engineering is a technology company specialized in the development, validation and verification of software and electronic solutions at the automotive sector. With a strong focus on technologies like Automotive Ethernet and the development of ECUS, we bring technical consulting services in areas like ADAS, on-board networks, getaways, and comfort and security functions.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Senior SW Developer to join our Software Development team in Vigo, Spain. In this role, you will act as a key technical reference across our software development teams, helping shape the way we design, develop, test, and deliver software. You will work closely with developers and technical teams to improve software architecture, promote engineering best practices, reduce technical complexity, and explore innovative ways to increase productivity through AI-assisted software development.

What are we looking for?

• 8+ years of professional experience in software development, including experience in senior engineering or technical leadership roles.
• Strong experience designing and developing production-ready software systems, with a solid understanding of software architecture, system design, design patterns, and clean-code principles.
• Experience with modern software architectures, APIs, backend services, and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of software quality practices, including automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD).
• Experience identifying and managing technical debt, improving maintainability, and establishing engineering standards and best practices.
• Proven ability to influence technical decisions, collaborate across multiple teams, and mentor other developers.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, a pragmatic mindset, and the ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

AI & automation experience:

• Practical experience using AI-assisted software development tools to improve productivity, code quality, or engineering workflows.
• Familiarity with technologies and practices such as AI coding assistants, automated test generation, AI-supported code reviews, documentation generation, or AI agents.
• An interest in evaluating new technologies and introducing responsible, effective AI-assisted development practices.

Technical skills:

• Strong knowledge of one or more programming languages, such as Python or C/C++.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows and modern software development practices.
• Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or similar containerization and orchestration solutions.

Nice to have:

• Experience in a software product organization or working with complex technical products and platforms.
• Background in the automotive, embedded software, telecommunications, or engineering industries.
• Experience with hardware/software integration, test automation, simulation, or validation environments.
• Experience improving engineering practices and productivity across multiple teams.
• Experience working in international and distributed development environments.

What will your tasks be?

• Act as a technical reference across software development teams, supporting complex technical decisions and architectural discussions.
• Define and promote scalable, maintainable, and reusable software architectures, ensuring the right balance between consistency and flexibility across products.
• Drive engineering excellence by improving code quality, testing strategies, code reviews, documentation, and software development standards.
• Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, simplify systems, eliminate unnecessary complexity, and improve development efficiency.
• Promote the adoption of AI-assisted software development, identifying practical use cases for code generation, automated testing, refactoring, documentation, and developer workflow automation.
• Evaluate new technologies, tools, and engineering approaches to improve software quality and team productivity.
• Share knowledge and mentor developers, helping teams strengthen their technical capabilities and adopt effective engineering practices.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify technical dependencies, anticipate risks, and align technical decisions with business needs.
• Encourage continuous improvement across the organization, turning recurring technical challenges into reusable solutions and best practices.
